The package of laws creates preconditions for the transformation of the state companies Lietuvos Airports, Oro Navigacija, Inland Waterways Directorate and Klaipėda State Seaport Authority into joint stock companies.
“According to my proposals, the laws amended by the Seimas provide the state with instruments that will better guarantee the supervision of the use of public transport infrastructure important for national security. This is required by the long-term strategic interests of the state in maritime, air and maritime transportation, “said the president.
According to the head of state, when marketing these strategic state-owned companies, it is necessary to ensure that public transport infrastructure objects always remain in the hands of the state, so that they are not exposed to the risk of creditors’ assumptions.
According to the country’s president, restructured companies must be managed in a transparent and professional manner, in accordance with the best management practices, in addition to ensuring the principles of collegiality of corporate management bodies.
