Morbidity rates from COVID-19 are increasing. 1,064 new cases of coronavirus were reported on Saturday and 19 people died from the infection on Monday.
On Monday, Clinicas Santara presented the situation in the hospital and the Vilnius region, as well as whether the procedure for placing patients in hospitals, consultations and patient visits is changing.
The situation does not allow relaxation.
Jolita Jakutienė, managing director of the Santara Clinics, said that the situation in the clinics and in the Vilius region is stable, but does not allow for relaxation.
“At the end of last week, several additional cribs were opened, that is, the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital opened 20 beds, the Alytus Hospital 10 beds,” said J. Jakutienė.
Starting Monday, Druskininkai Hospital will also begin providing COVID-19 treatment services.
Currently, according to the specialist, 90 percent are busy. resuscitation beds. According to J. Jakutienė, its quantity is the biggest concern.
“We are considering various solutions to deal with this situation. We will make decisions tomorrow in consultation with the heads and employees of our divisions,” says J. Jakutienė.
According to a representative from the Santara clinics, only one in ten patients who undergo resuscitation is fully or partially vaccinated. All the others have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
As of Monday, 18 COVID-19 patients are being treated at the Santara clinics.
The clinics have allocated 48 beds for active treatment, 6 beds for children, and 20 resuscitation beds for COVID-19.
According to J. Jakutienė, resuscitation mainly treats the elderly, but there are also people in their 50s. elderly.
Younger people enter resuscitation for a variety of reasons.
“We have had several younger unvaccinated patients, of course, and younger patients may have comorbidities that complicate the course of the disease,” says J. Jakutienė.

“Starting this Thursday, we plan to close the Infectious Diseases Unit II with 12 beds in it, all of which we will dedicate to patients with COVID-19. We will have a total of 60 active treatments and 20 ranimations (beds – aut. last.) ”, Said J. Jakutienė.
Hospitals are currently planned in which patients who cannot be treated in the closed ward will be relocated. Patients with infectious diseases will be able to go to the Marcinkevičius Hospital, patients with certain diseases, such as tick-borne encephalitis, will be admitted to the neurology departments of the Santara Clinics.
The Republican Hospital Šiauliai has announced that it will suspend scheduled operations and the Santara Clinic has not yet stopped scheduled operations. However, if the need arises, the number of resuscitation beds will be increased.
Patient visits to Santara clinics do not change. Services are provided to all patients, whether or not they have a passport of opportunity.
