The newly appointed president of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF), Vydas Gedvilas, may receive another evaluation.

FIBA has announced the names of 29 female coaches who claim to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022, including the winner of the 1997 European Women’s Championship.

Gedvilas, 62, led the Lithuanian women’s team from 1996-2002.

In addition to Gedvilas, the candidates included legendary coaches such as Željko Obradovičius, David Blatt, Božidar Maljkovičius and Zmago Sagadin.

Among the former players, there are more Lithuanians among the candidates: Rimas Kurtinaitis, Pranas Lubinas, Artūras Karnišovas, Arvydas Macijauskas, Saulius Štombergas, Jurgita Štreimikytė-Virbickienė, Vida Šulskytė-Baselienė and Angelė Rupšienė.

In 2020, Modestas Paulauskas was inducted into the FIBA ​​Hall of Fame, in 2015 – Šarūnas Marčiulionis, in 2010 – Arvydas Sabonis.
