“It just came to our notice then. It will be registered immediately in the fall session. It will be called the Democratic Group” For Lithuania, “said one of its future members, Linas Kukuraitis.
Interpreter Marijonas Mikutavičius reacted to S. Skvernelis’ unexpected decision. He posted his holiday suggestions on Facebook, illustrated with excerpts from the National Anthem. The barely published post immediately received a lot of attention.
“After the invention of S. Skvernelis, all the Lithuanian parts could be called pieces of the National Anthem.
On behalf of (that) Lithuania – a new cheb from Saulius Skvernelis
Lithuania, in our homeland – the Union of the Homeland
The virtues of the roads are the Christian Union
Let It Run – Labor Party
Let love be the feast of freedom
For your benefit, the Liberal Movement
Your Earth – Peasants
From the past – the National Union
Let the sun go dark – give the Social Democrats a reference that the sun is V.Blinkevičiūtė paliubomu.
Polish Christians get nothing because there are no Poles and no God in the hymn.
For the good of the people, to preserve and hope. Perhaps it will be useful for Gitan Nausėda when the Welfare State runs out.
Light and truth: symbols that can be freely converted and exchanged on the market remain, ”writes M. Mikutavičius.
Delphi Remember that the New Faction will register on Friday, the first day of the fall session of the Seimas.
Although such a decision may seem unexpected or somewhat spontaneous to some, in reality the formation of the group is born from serious discussions of this team, reflections on processes in society and politics, <…> they value discussions and, of course, shared and agreed common visions, ”said L. Kukuraitis.
Skvernel: this is not some kind of separation
S. Skvernelis began his speech by discussing the situation in Lithuania.
“We see a rather contrasting divided state. Unfortunately, such a situation benefits a number of politicians, both in position and in opposition, as positions are strengthened and political dividends are reaped through conflict and opposition. Both I and my colleagues have decided, after lengthy deliberations, that we do not want to get involved in such a policy of fragmentation and conflict. “No one but the state and the people of Lithuania suffer from this,” he said.
The politician explained that this new faction “is not a kind of separation or an artificial political entity.”
“It’s just a merger with like-minded partners and people. These people, who worked in the “green peasant” faction, are also representatives of the Mixto Seimas group of members. <…>. We appreciate your experience, strengths and thank you for joining, “S. Skvernelis said. When asked if politicians who had formed a new faction would create a new political force before the election, S. Skvernel said the topic was too early.
It promises to be a constructive opposition
Skvernel said the faction would be a constructive opposition to the current government.
“You often hear whether something can be supported by government decisions; we should just go back to the agenda; when those decisions are on the agenda, then they can be considered. Although almost a year has passed, we still do not see a very clear and ambitious agenda from this Government, ”said S. Skvernelis.
He recalled that most of the members of the new group are not political novices.
“I want to remind you that we had effective government based on real work, we have accumulated experience, we have lessons to learn and together we have something to offer,” Skvernelis said.
S. Skvernelis said that the faction does not have an elder yet, he will be elected before the Seimas session.
“I hope there are pleasant surprises, not as everyone thinks when choosing an elder. I would also like to emphasize that we have made a decision: we will rotate the elder before the session,” said S. Skvernelis.
Inspired by a strong team
Another former prime minister, Algirdas Butkevičius, explained that the Joint Group, made up of three members of the Seimas, had unanimously decided to merge. He said they were driven by an “exceptionally strong team.”
“I’m also glad that there are four women on this team, which is 31 percent. [frakcijos narių], when in the Seimas women represent only 27 percent. I think we have very promising young people. The most important thing is that all members of the faction can work in both economic and social security, education, public administration, self-government, law enforcement and all other areas, ”said A. Butkevičius.
He also highlighted the size of the faction.
“It can have a bigger impact,” Butkevičius said. He also welcomed the “coincidence”. “We see that we are needed and we can do a lot together,” said A. Butkevičius.
According to the parliamentarian, the approach to value issues has already been debated.
“I am impressed by the new faction because we have a shared vision of governance. I believe that value beliefs will be respected and I believe that everyone will be able to vote on these issues separately,” said A. Butkevičius.
The peasants will also withdraw from the party R. Baškienė declared that he will withdraw from the LVŽS party, Z. Streikus and L. Mogenienė will do the same. R. Baškienė, a longtime member of the “Peasant Greens”, taught that work is more important than loyalty to the party.
“With our colleagues, we have decided to follow a path in which we can work in a culture of constructive communication. We do not value party affiliation, or loyalty, but state issues. Works are the most important ”, taught R. Baškienė.
The politician has promised that politicians who join his group will seek more dialogue with the public.
“We need communication, we need to find compromises, we need openness, transparency and consultation with the people. <…> We will invite people to express their positions so that they can participate in common decision-making in our state, because when problems are not resolved at that level, they generally increase exclusion, ”said R. Baškienė.
