“I am considering leaving the group, but a final decision has not been made,” the MP told BNS on Friday.
According to her, such deliberations were stimulated by the radical political leadership of the “peasants” after the Seimas elections last year.
“Encouraged by the desire to operate in an environment that is not radical, but more focused on listening, speaking, arguing, finding compromises, this is the foundation.” It is not the execution of instructions when several people make a decision, but simply the environment in which we can all discuss it, “said the” campesino “representative.
The Seimas member said she was convinced that her deliberations to leave the faction could provide a positive impetus to think about the party’s leadership.
“Perhaps this is the basis to listen to each other more and think about what we can do, because today the search for enemies is not the basis, nor the anger that Baškienė greeted the conservatives or liberals and said: here, she may be communicating with them there, and thinking about how we will solve the problems of the state is the essence here, ”said R. Baškienė.

“Today, both refugee and COVID-19 issues and other issues are more important than our personal or party issues,” he added.
The old “peasants” also assured that leaving the group would mean leaving the party, where he had worked for 25 years, making it a “difficult issue.”
R. Karbauskis doubts the departure of his teammate
LVŽS President Ramūnas Karbauskis says he doubts that R. Baškienė will withdraw from the “peasant” faction and, at the same time, from the party.
“I appreciate that everyone has the right to consider the decisions they want. Whether that happens or not, I think the question is different here, and I doubt it will happen. Here is your right to decide,” R. Karbauskis told BNS on Friday.
He said that all people who leave the faction for reasons of courage “should help in their mandates and apologize to the electorate”, but this does not apply to R. Baškienė.

“Rima doesn’t apply that, because Rima has never been a problem for the group in terms of values and has always voted in the same way as the group. And what other reasons can they be, it is very difficult for me to say, I do not want to speculate, “said the party leader.
“I don’t think he’s going anywhere because he’s been a partygoer for a long time.”
According to R.Karbauskis, if R.Baškienė left a faction and a party, it would not be “understood” in the Šiauliai district.
“I think voters would have to explain what happened for a long time and there would be no way to explain it,” said the “campesino” president.
Karbauskis said he did not know how many members of the faction should leave it, but said that “those who had become liberals” would be eliminated if they voted for the Companies Act.
The “Campesinos” faction is the largest opposition force in the Seimas, with 32 members.
In mid-August, Lukas Savickas, who is not from the Lithuanian Peasant and Greens Party, announced that Saulius Skvernelis and Rūta Miliūtė, who are also not from the party, are considering resigning.
Tomás Tomilinas is also considered to be leaving the “Campesinos” faction for breach of the party’s ideological line.
The three representatives of the group supported the bill on associations.
