Band members Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson announced during a video performance in London: “We have created a new album with ABBA.”
Atop London’s ArcelorMittal Orbit, music giant Universal Music Group presented a new song, I Still Have Faith in You.
Then Ulvaeus and B. Andersson, dressed in black, appeared at the event. Both personally announced the news of the new project.
“The album is done, it’s done,” Andersson said of ABBA’s return to the recording studio.
“It’s been 40 years or maybe 39, but it seemed like no time had passed. It was really shocking,” added Andersson. “We worked the best we could, given our age.”
“Our age gives a certain depth to everything,” Ulvaeus said. “There is a lot of experience, many years, and I hope people feel it.”
The album will be released on November 5, band members said.
The ABBA musicians also spoke about a new show that will feature their digital images created with the latest technology.
They recounted how they were photographed in tight-fitting stockings to create images for the new show, ABBA Voyage. It will be shown in a theater currently under construction in London.
