“Extremely honest man”
Artūras Poviliūnas, the former director of LTOK, knew K. Motiekas well.
“He is an incredibly honest and incredibly smart man who, from the point of view of our Olympic sport, was one of those key pillars on which he helped rebuild our Olympic Committee. On December 11, 1988, we reestablished our National Olympic Committee. He was one of those people who wrote legal documents.
After all, his speech at the congress was that we could practically end that congress because he said: “What to see here, young people, to Moscow and so on, we are the hosts of our country and we have the right to re-establish our National Olympic Committee.” And then there were no more questions, everyone agreed, everyone shouted “Lithuania”, “Thank you, thank you.” We do the procedural things only after that, “recalled A. According to the biography published on the Seimas website, K. Motieka was born in 1929 in Kaunas.
He studied at Aukštos Panemunė Primary School, Ukmergė Primary School, Kaunas Jesuit Primary School, Vilnius First Children’s Gymnasium, Vilnius Adult Gymnasium.
In 1949-1950 he studied at Vilnius University Faculty of Law, one year at Leningrad State University, in 1951-1954 again at Vilnius University.
