These professionals must be removed from work, but some employees choose the easier route and leave the job. Some companies have dozens of exits. Unions say this should have been expected, and the government’s closest decisions are balanced to a dangerous level, LNK Žinios reported.
“The psychological and emotional strain at work is now indescribable,” said Inga Ruginienė, president of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation (LPSK).
And this strain is caused by both vaccination and regular testing.
“Employers were very happy to accept these measures, but what will employers really do when people start leaving work and no longer have employees?” Said I. Ruginienė.
There is no time for the future. Residents are already quitting their jobs.
Some companies bleed so that the number of exits is not counted by units, but by several dozen.
“There are employees who categorically left our company immediately. There are fifty of those employees, “said Tom Bašarov, a Maxima representative.
An attempt was made to speak to staff, but the spokesperson said: “the dialogue did not take place.”
“You always talk to employees, but these are the employees who immediately had a strong opinion. They just refused, and that is their principled conviction, “Basharov said.
In total, the network employs just over twelve thousand people.
Employees simply make statements to resign
Other retailers also talk about people kicking the habit. For example, a Norfa representative does not name a specific number, but states in a written response that “there may be others who have left the job.”
Currently, the Employment Service is seeing certain trends: people are also leaving jobs in the construction, transport services, hospitality, catering and accommodation sectors.
“In July, in the last days of July and now in August, the Employment Service notices a slight increase in the number of people registered. If we talk about the numbers, in July more than 21 thousand people applied to the Employment Service. job seekers, “said Inga Balnanosienė, director of the Employment Service.
It cannot be said that all of these people quit their jobs due to arrangements for vaccinations and testing. However, even the Bureau is aware that some employees cite this as one of the reasons.
“People do not mention vaccination or the Opportunity Passport as the main reason for leaving work, but one of the reasons could be. (…) There is definitely no alternative, but people will choose the easier way out, I would say, next time, ”said I. Balnanosienė.
When leaving work, for example, a clerk-cashier in another store would receive exactly the same requirements, so it remains to change profession.
“These people are not willing to change their profession either,” said I. Balnanosienė.
Doctors invited to give lectures.
However, in the same retail chains, the majority, in some cases even around 80%. all employees are vaccinated.
“We carry out extensive internal communication about vaccination. We also invited doctors who spoke about vaccines and dispelled various myths, ”said IKID representative Vaida Budrienė.
It is true that it was in this network where there were almost twice as many people vaccinated a good month ago. More than just guest physician conferences contributed to such a rapid jump in vaccination.
“The mandatory tests also contributed to this,” said V. Budrienė.
And those who oppose the order don’t want to quit their jobs and still can’t work. Employers have principles.
“There were only a few isolated cases where an employee refused to be vaccinated or tested. However, in such cases we had to act in accordance with the requirements, and several of these employees were removed, ”said LIDL representative Lina Skersytė.
More active action by the Government is lacking
According to the president of the trade union confederation, the balance is on the verge of danger.
“On the one hand, we can put pressure on the employee, but will it have a positive impact on a healthy work environment? I highly doubt it, “said I. Ruginienė.
So far, the state pays for periodic tests, but the order will change starting in the fall. It is expected that the employee or employer will pay for the mandatory tests.
“I don’t know what the government is trying to achieve with such decisions,” said I. Ruginienė.
Some companies say they will try to maneuver so that the employee does not feel the financial burden.
“We are taking action and thinking about how we can facilitate the daily life of the employee and how we can contribute to the compensation of the tests,” said Vaida Kaikarienė, human resources manager at Rimi Lietuva. In this case, the employer is expected to bear the financial burden of this.
And so far, vaccination in companies has not stopped. Some workplaces reward employees who choose to do so, not just coupons. Other gifts are also distributed.
“If an employee decides to get vaccinated during work, this time is paid as work time. Transportation costs are also reimbursed and the retail chain offers a thank you gift for time off to all vaccinated employees. An employee can choose, for example, a beach bag, a towel or a drinking fountain, ”said a LIDL spokeswoman.
The Confederation of Trade Unions says that already now, due to the testing procedure, where, how often and what kind of tests are needed, questions are received not only from employees, but also from employers themselves.
“The state centers appear to be operating at insufficient capacity,” said I. Ruginienė.
