On Saturday evening, the Purvėnai firebreak officers of the Varėna border team of the SBGS captured an object at the Eišiškės entrances that had entered Lithuanian territory at low altitude. Border guards already knew that an attempt could be made to transport illegal cargo here, so the closest patrols were dispatched to the specified location.

SBGS officials, using a portable UAV interception system, successfully seized control of the plane and forcibly landed it half a kilometer from the border with Belarus. It turned out that a rectangular pack of 400 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes with Belarusian stamps was attached to the drone of the DJI Matrice 600 Pro model.

The person controlling the drone was not found.

Official dealers sell the intercepted plane without additional accessories for half a thousand euros, the cigarettes found, almost a thousand euros.

This is the second time this year that an expensive DJI Matrice 600 Pro has been used to transport contraband cigarettes. In early March, the same plane with a load of cigarettes was successfully seized and landed by Triboniai Border Guard officers from the SBGS Varėna Border Team.

The border guards investigating the incident have initiated an administrative process for violating the established procedure in relation to the movement of goods subject to excise duties. The person controlling the drone was not found. The drone and cigarettes are temporarily stored in the Varvėnai Firewall of the Varėna Border Team.
