With the approval of the Kaunas District Council, it is planned to create and develop a system of incoming short trips on suburban routes. This week, Kaunas district politicians approved the first Raudondvaris – Kaniūkai pilot address.
Subsequently, on the basis of this example and the good practice of the solution, according to Deputy Mayor Vilija Žukaitytė, trips will be created to possible transfer terminals and other bus routes in the Kaunas district that cross the suburbs in Neveroniai, Vaišvydava, as well as in other directions. The purpose of these trips is to improve public transport conditions for the residents of Puna, who live in the vicinity of the city, ensuring their transportation to the network of public transport routes of the city of Kaunas.
“Until now, there have been no such flights, so there will be a new ticket fee for such flights. A passenger ticket from Raudondvaris to the Kaunas city public transport depot located on the Raudondvaris highway will cost 0.30 euros, – says Gita Kaminskienė, head of the Department of Roads and Transport of the Municipality of the Kaunas District – At such a price, the total price of the trip with transfer Raudondvario pl. to the city of Kaunas, public transport would not exceed one euro per passenger. This price would be attractive to residents of the Kaunas district and relatively proportional to the distance transported from Raudondvaris and a possible transfer terminal on the Raudondvaris highway. “
Until now, there have been no such flights, so there will be a new ticket fee for such flights.
The president pointed out that the decision was also motivated by the initiatives of the communities that operate in the Raudondvaris nursing home. In cooperation with the administration and these communities, a survey was carried out in the summer of residents of the villages of Raudondvaris, Heroes and Šilelis, involving almost 600 respondents. According to the data from this survey, incoming flights to Kaniūkai should significantly improve public transport conditions in this suburban settlement with the city of Kaunas. This is a beautiful example of cooperation where local communities are involved in decision-making processes.
The new trips are scheduled to begin as early as September, when the Kaunas city municipality has coordinated the traffic schedules for these trips, the district municipality report specified.
