The old school building in Vydeniai, Varėna district, is home to immigrants from various African countries: Togo, Congo, Cameroon, Somalia, Eritrea and others.
There are currently 143 people staying there.

We really get clothes from the locals. It somehow shows that they are not that hostile, “said the old man.
Four people had fled the Vydeniai center at the beginning of the settlement of migrants crossing the border illegally.
Now, as G.Ramoškienė said, there are no loopholes or attempts to do so.
They all say they want to stay
According to the old man from Vydeniai, three women who lived at the center received positive pregnancy test results.
“Friends, there are couples. Life is boiling, young people are with us,” he said.

Several other women who have crossed the Lithuanian border illegally here have asked to buy pregnancy tests, as they suspect they can wait.
Questions were also received about whether children born in Lithuania would become citizens of our state. When they said no, the migrants were shocked.

In some states, like the United States, Canada, citizenship is acquired at birth.
The law stipulates that Lithuanian citizenship is acquired at birth, granting it in a simplified way, by naturalization or exception, upon return and for the reasons established by international agreements.
When asked if the people living in the center hope to stay in our country, G.Ramoškienė replied:
“They say that everyone wants to stay in Lithuania, here.”
