Early in the morning, 48-year-old Robertas Savickas from Anykščiai district managed to catch a catfish weighing 22 kilograms. The man pulled the 147-centimeter-long fish to shore after about half an hour of fighting.
After enjoying the impressive catch, the fisherman returned the catfish to the pond, for which he refused to reveal where he was fishing.
The man had heard rumors from local people that a huge elusive catfish lived in this pond.
Anykštė, who was preparing to fish for carp, did not expect to catch a mustache. He had placed a simple bait on the hook: a scented duck used by fishermen. R. Savickas fishes while on shore.
It has a special boat controlled by radio waves, which carries the food and the hook to the spot in the pond.
This time, Anykščiai cast the hook into the water about 120 meters from shore. Sensing that someone was stuck, he began to wind the line.
As he brought the fish to shore, the fisherman immediately realized that the catch was not a carp, but a much larger catch.
At first, the towed fish held out little, but showed their strength about 70 meters before shore. Suddenly, he turned to swim back to the center of the pond.
Fearing that the line would not resist the load and break, the fisherman did not even try to stop the reel.
After swimming 20-30 meters, the fish stopped.
“As soon as the fish stopped, I pulled it towards me. This is how we fight, “Anykščiai said.
After about half an hour of fighting, the fisherman managed to exhaust the fish and bring it to shore. Jumping into the water, he grabbed the catfish to land. The mighty fish did not resist.
Admired for his impressive catch, R. Savickas photographed him. After the photoshoot, the man returned the catfish to the pond.
Anykščiai has been fishing for many years and is an experienced carpenter. He has repeatedly had to catch carp weighing between 16 and 20 kilograms and then put them back in the water. A man usually prepares to fish for a few days.
R. Savickas not only fishes, but also contributes on his own initiative to the restocking of ponds: he introduces the juvenile carp that he has bought into the water.
