Hotline: In western Lithuania, the PCR test may have to wait a week

“Due to the fact that there are many people who want to do the test among those who need it, it is true,” Naglis Miknevičius, coordinator of the hotline, told BNS on Monday.

According to him, the Vilnius hotline is currently registering only for the next day or another, in Kaunas, for the same day.

“But, for example, in western Lithuania it is difficult: there even for a week,” said the coordinator.

According to N. Miknevičius, the majority of registrants are people who experience the symptoms of COVID-19, as well as those who must undergo prophylactic tests for their work.

The procedure, which came into effect on Monday, when a company can only start operations with an opportunity passport, did not affect the increase in workload, on the contrary: as only people with exemptions can currently test at mobile points, the scope of such tests have decreased.

“If we talk about mobile points, the logic is that there should be a reduction in the passport, because there are only exceptions. And everyone else should go to private clinics for paid research. But the general situation is such that the number of symptomatic patients is increasing, all the preventive (tests) remain ”, said the coordinator.

Because the queue is common, people who, with exceptions, can register for a free trial passport will also have to wait.

As of Monday, coronavirus passport tests have been paid for, but exceptions apply to those who cannot get vaccinated for medical reasons and pregnant women.

According to the government’s decision, as of September 13, most services will only be available to people who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, have had an illness or have had a negative PCR test for at least 48 hours.

However, companies can apply for a passport of opportunity before the new restrictions take effect. Then, the activity can be carried out freely, it is no longer necessary to comply with the conditions established for the provision of epidemiological services.
