At the OSCE Permanent Council meeting, Lithuania rejected Belarus’ claims that it is not responsible for the migration crisis.

Lithuania stressed that there were good grounds for claiming that third-country nationals were illegally crossing the Lithuanian state border with the direct help of the Belarusian authorities and their travel agencies. Recent video from Frontex officials showing how Belarusian border guards are helping migrants cross the Lithuanian border illegally is just another piece of evidence to back up these allegations.

Lithuania has rejected allegations of mistreatment of migrants and any possibility that Lithuanian border guards are implicated in the death of an Iraqi citizen on the Belarusian border.

As noted in the report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Lithuanian representatives once again demanded that Belarus stop behaving maliciously and comply with its international obligations, including in the context of the OSCE.
