“It is planned to install a container city with additional accommodation for illegally arrived migrants … It is planned to relocate the most vulnerable migrants: mothers with children, disabled people,” the district chief told BNS on Wednesday.
According to him, huts for migrants can be built on site in the country.
“I know cameras are being built for the area that will potentially be usable. I know that there are plans and discussions with the municipal water company about the introduction of water and wastewater in that territory, ”said M.Sinkevičius.
According to the mayor, the plan to host part of the migrants in Rukla together with the leadership of the Ministry of Social Security and Labor will be discussed at a meeting of the district council on Friday.
“Such a plan is known, tomorrow it will be known more, because there is a meeting of the Municipal Council of the Jonava District and the Deputy Minister of Social Security and Labor and police come. And I know that knowledge from the lips of Monika Navickienė. I learned such intentions from the minister herself and they communicated them to me directly on Tuesday, “said the mayor of the Jonava district.
Beatričė Bernotienė, director of the Refugee Reception Center, told BNS that this is just one of the areas under consideration.
“There is a discussion in all municipalities about their accommodation, they are also discussing this place, it is not yet a final decision,” said the head of the center, adding that the area is not yet being prepared for the accommodation of migrants.
The Refugee Reception Center offers social services, accommodation and state support for integration to foreigners who were granted asylum in Lithuania, as well as their relatives, asylum seekers, etc.
