Volunteer and military soldiers from the professional military service of different army units, in turn, together with officials from the State Border Guard Service, ensure the physical protection of the border section.
Soldiers are also used to ensure the operation of the outdoor camp at Pabradė Alien Registration Center and the isolation of tent hangars in Druskininkai and Kabeliai, help establish a tent city in Rūdninkai, as well as using troops to react quickly to possible incidents.

According to preliminary data, 287 migrants who illegally crossed the border between Belarus and Lithuania were detained last day, the Statistics Department announced on Monday.
At the time, the head of the State Border Guard Service, Rustama Liubajev, told LRT radio that there were slightly more detainees: 289 illegal immigrants. Additionally, 109 other migrants crossed the border from Belarus between midnight and Monday morning.
Most of them presented themselves as Iraqi citizens.
Currently, the migrants are housed in SBGS units, objects provided by municipalities, Rūdninkai landfill.
Among those arrested on the border with Belarus this year there are mostly Iraqi citizens or foreigners who came forward: 2,555. Also 191 Congolese, 129 Cameroonians, 124 Syrians, 91 Iranians, 90 Russians and other citizens were arrested.
According to border guards, a large part of those detained seek to enter Western European countries through Lithuania.
Lithuania has declared an emergency situation due to the increase in illegal immigration. The country’s officials take the position that the increase in migratory flows is an organized action of the Minsk regime against Lithuania.
