Speaking at the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Medininkai massacre on Saturday, the head of state promised that the necessary solutions to stop and resist this attack will be found and implemented very soon. You want not to oppose yourself or the representatives of other authorities in the search for such solutions.

“Very close to here, we have a fine line that separates not only the territories, that separates freedom from captivity, the lie from the truth, to look at man as the goal of everything, to look at man at all only as a means to achieve geopolitical goals. This is an extremely important line. We must defend this line with all our might, “emphasized G. Nausėda.

According to him, today is not easy for the state, because the regime neighboring Lithuania chose the people of other countries “as a kind of lever, a means, a living tarana to attack an independent and free Lithuania.”

“It just came to our attention then. The regime, which has chosen to use these people as tools, is challenging,” the president said.

“Yes, these people have chosen the way to cross the Lithuanian border illegally and this is a misdemeanor. Yes, almost all of these people will have to return to their countries without achieving their goal. But today it is extremely important that we resist the pressure created by the hostile state on our side, “he added.

According to him, in this context, the selfless work of all responsible officials, equivalent to the victim of the customs officials killed in Medininkai three decades ago, is extremely important.

He said that efforts were being made to find the necessary solutions as soon as possible to defend against the hybrid attack of the Minsk regime by passing flows of illegal immigrants across the border.

“By listening to government representatives, I can say that these solutions are being sought, found, and will certainly be implemented very soon. Yes, we will have to catch up and implement certain decisions in a few months, even if we haven’t implemented them in decades, but we will. And I am sure that solutions will be found, perhaps, in discussion, in controversy, but by no means in opposition. And that is what I wish to myself, to other Lithuanian institutions, – said G. Nausėda.

Medininkai commemorates the 30th anniversary of the massacre

In Medininkai, heads of state paid tribute on Saturday to the memory of the victims of the massacre 30 years ago.

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė emphasized the importance of the victim.

“It doesn’t matter if it was Gargžda or Rainiai, if it was January 13 or Medininkai. Today, when not long after all these events, Lithuania is a free and independent state, it belongs to all possible prestigious international clubs: NATO, the European Union, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, however, long ago It makes sense to look back and remember what the essence of all these events is, ”said I. Šimonytė at the commemoration.

“The point is that people who were not afraid to stand in front of a blunt killing machine with their bare hands,” he added.

On July 31, 1991, at the Medininkai border post, near the Belarusian border, the Soviet owners assassinated seven Lithuanian officials: Mindaugas Balavakas, Algimantas Juozakas, Juozas Janonis, Algirdas Kazlauskas, Antanas Musteikis, Stanislovas Orlavičius. Ričardas Rabavičius died of gunshot wounds in hospital on August 2.

Doctors managed to save the life of the only seriously injured customs officer, Tom Šernas.

Konstantinas Mikhailov, a former OMON militiaman, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the Medininkai massacre and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Lithuanian courts sentenced three more homeowners, Andrejs Laktionovs, Česlavs Mlynikas and Aleksandrs Ryžovs, to the harshest punishment because Russia refuses to extradite them.
