“The Cyber Security Center is conducting an investigation. I believe that the police must explain and make the appropriate decisions,” Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė said during her visit to the Druskininkai border guard on Thursday.

He said he was confident that it would be clarified who the perpetrators of the liars were. The minister also says that this confirms that a hybrid war against Lithuania is being attacked.

“I am very hopeful this clears up, because those things just show that when we talk about what a hybrid war is, a hybrid war attack, they are not just words. One of the means of attack is illegal migration, the other is the illegal actions that are being taken against our officials today, the actions that are causing destruction, the information that appears on portals or other sources spreading liars or disinformation. All this shows that it is a hybrid war or a hybrid war attack, ”said the minister.

On Wednesday, the Prienai district municipality announced on Facebook about the spread of false information on the Internet about the establishment of camps for illegal immigrants in Lithuania.

Melagienė claims that migrant camps are being established in Alytus, Kelmė, Prienai, Radviliškis and Telšiai, this information is shared by sending links from people who, when clicked, open the page of the Prienai district municipality with such information.

The Prienai District Municipality stated that it views this information as a cyber incident and a desire to confuse society.

It will not provide information to the public.

The interior minister, who visited southern Lithuania’s border barriers on Thursday, says the goal now is to get migrants out of the border barriers as soon as possible so that as many border guards as possible can carry out their direct duties.

“Those people are housed in firewalls, which means that our border workers today have to take care of the safety of those people, in a sense they have to provide lodging services; we all understand that this is not the job of border guards,” the minister told reporters at the Druskininkai border guard.

“Our goal is to get the illegal immigrants out of the barracks as soon as possible so that they can be released and the officers can do their job, because the main job of the officers is to guard the border,” he added.

The migrants are scheduled to be transferred to the Rūdninkai landfill of the Public Security Service in Šalčininkai district, but the minister did not reveal the exact time.

Surely I am not going to comment on specific dates, times, other details now, because we see that all this information can be directed against us and can hinder our work, but there are plans to accommodate people, there are adequate conditions, there were conversations with the community, with representatives of the local government and we hope that the process will be fluid ”, said the Minister.

He also said that the construction of modular houses on the territory of the border guard school in Medininkai should start in the near future.

There we will focus on the most vulnerable groups (…) Among illegal immigrants there are not only young men who can and I think they have to live in tents, and certainly not in the best conditions, because they are young, healthy. Strong men, but families, pregnant women, children, must be housed in modular homes and we must ensure it ”, said A. Bilotaitė.

“Our main objective and task is to send these people to their countries of origin as soon as possible,” said the minister.

According to her, faster deportation will be facilitated by the safe accommodation of migrants and speedy migration procedures.

We can do this only if we have those people in safe areas, we can carry out immigration procedures quickly, establish their identities and then we can send them home, ”said A. Bilotaitė.

About 1,5 thousand people are planned to be accommodated at the Rūdninkai landfill. Migrants previously say the modular huts could accommodate about 800 people.

Currently, some 900 immigrants live in the barracks controlled by the Varėna border team alone.

Lithuania has faced a significant increase in illegal migration in recent months, the number of migrants has already exceeded 3,000, and as a result, Lithuania has declared an emergency situation.

The country’s officials take the position that the increase in migratory flows is an organized action of the Minsk regime against Lithuania.
