The Interior Ministry had previously planned to host several hundred migrants for the first of September at the former Dieveniškės technical school.
However, the residents of Dieveniškės, who are organizing protests, say they are opposed to the accommodation of migrants on the city’s territory, as the place where the migrants are planned to be accommodated is a couple of dozen meters from the school operational.
Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė said on Wednesday that there are no plans to transport migrants to Dieveniškės at this time, but the city’s technical school is considered a reserved place to accommodate foreigners.
