G. Nausėda’s message on the migration crisis: better leave the crumbs to the sparrows on the table of political possibilities

On Tuesday, G. Nausėda visited the General Adolfas Ramanauskas Combat Training Center in Nemenčinė, where the “Quick Sword” exercise is taking place.

In proposing the introduction of a state of emergency by the Interior Ministry, G. Nausėda says that before making such proposals, we must answer the question of what this will bring in addition to the current situation.

He mentioned that the imposition of a state of emergency does not mean that the Interior Ministry gives all its knowledge to the army. The army would be an additional support, more resources would be needed.

The question is whether replenishing these resources and sending them to the state border would not be another provocative factor at this time, given that the joint Belarusian-Russian military exercise “Zapad” is approaching, that our friends are looking for any excuse to continue. complicate the situation.

“So, yes, without a doubt, I am following the situation very closely. I see a lot more reserves that could be used by the Home Office, the Border Guard Service, to solve the problems. And only as a last resort and, without a doubt, through consultation, explanation to the population, could we return to the issue of the emergency. So today I don’t see the need for that, “emphasized G. Nausėda.

What steps will be taken to stop or at least reduce the flow of illegal immigrants to Lithuania? The head of state said this after discussing this issue in a meeting with Prime Minister Ingrid Šimonyte.

“My main message is that today we are far from taking advantage of the opportunities that we could take advantage of by persuading and talking normally to our residents to explain the meaning of our decisions, explain the objectives of our decisions and what contribution we need from a particular municipality.

Let’s understand one thing: the situation is certainly quite serious and let’s not look for enemies here, within the country. They simply do not exist. And if anyone is trying to scrap crumbs at this table of political possibilities, I think it’s best to leave this job to the sparrows. They will do this job much better, ”commented the president.

He highlighted the need to dialogue with the municipalities today. Conflicts have escalated as self-government has been talked about from positions of power.

Will invite politicians

On Thursday, G. Nausėda promises to invite the leaders of the parliamentary parties to the presidency to agree on the foreign policy principles, which Lithuania has professed for 30 years and will continue to adhere to.

“Because what has been happening lately is reminiscent of a kind of, I would say, a self-imposed adjustment of the course of foreign policy or an attempt to talk about it. And this is completely unacceptable,” the president said.

The head of state assured that we would not speak to the dictator as he expected. The principles of foreign policy will remain unchanged and the sanctions imposed on the Belarusian regime will apply throughout the European Union.

“As if we talk about the fact that maybe it is not time for destructive critics, if individual political parties, individual politicians have their own ideas – constructive ideas – let them put them on the table and those ideas will be considered. I will also invite to the Prime Minister so that the representatives of the ruling coalition can also evaluate these proposals, ”commented G. Nausėda.

For his part, after some preparations, he indicated plans to try new diplomatic avenues to resolve the migration crisis. Specifically, in the United States, Turkey, and other countries.
