Mindaugas Griškonis advanced in the quarterfinals of the individual competition. In his swimming, the 35-year-old from Vilnius got away in 2000 in 7 minutes. 16.71 seconds and ranked third out of six competitors, guaranteeing the right to compete in the semi-finals.

Lithuania was overtaken by the German Oliver Zeidler (7 min. 12.75 sec.) And the Brazilian Luca Verthein Ferreira (7 min. 14.26 sec.).

The single-boat semi-finals will take place next Wednesday, unless the next typhoon moves towards Tokyo once more.

In the women’s doubles semi-finals, Rio de Janeiro bronze winners Milda Valčiukaitė and Donata Queen were also third in their swimming, reaching the finish line in 7 minutes. 11.29 sec.

The duo of Romania (7 min. 4.31 sec.) And New Zealand (7 min. 9.5 sec.) Overcame the distance faster.

In the following semifinal, the Dutch, Canadian and American teams won tickets to the finals.

The medals for this discipline will also be awarded on Wednesday.

The men’s doubles, Saulius Ritter and Aurimas Adomavičius, who were due to start in the consolation competition yesterday, had the semi-final barrier too high – on Wednesday they will have to settle for Final B and fight for 7-12 places.

In their swimming, the Lithuanian duo remained in the last sixth (6 min. 34.04 sec.). The Lithuanians broke away from third place, which would have given them a chance to compete in Final A, in 8.15 seconds.

Rowers from France, Great Britain, Poland, Holland, China and Switzerland will compete for the prizes.

Final B will also feature duos from New Zealand, Germany, the Russian Olympic Committee, Romania and Ireland.

By the way, on the eve of the latter, he also had to participate in a consolation swim – the Irish were also last in their semi-finals.

We remind you that S. Ritter is the runner-up in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, it is true that at that time he won silver in a pair of doubles rowing with M. Griškonis.

The quadruple from Lithuania completed the fight for the medals on the Tokyo Olympic Rowing Channel.

In the consolation competition, Armands Kelmelis, Martynas Džiaugis, Dovydas Nemeravičius and Dominikas Jančionys failed to improve their position in the national team – the Lithuanians were again the slowest of the six boats (6 min. 14.73 sec.).

The British and Estonian rowers made it to the final.
