Defects were discovered in the Aleksotas observation deck, which was rebuilt a million euros ago a year ago. Some are very hungry, but contractors claim this is just a cosmetic issue.

We can also see that in part of the upper site the pavement is of poor quality, it shows holes and potholes ”, – Radeta Savickienė, Head of the Department of Environmental Protection of the Municipality of Kaunas City, mentioned the biggest defects, all of which They have already referred to the contractor.
According to her, the building contractor will start managing the site again in the near future.
“After a colder winter, more rainfall and more pronounced long-term temperature fluctuations, some shortcomings in design solutions and construction work were identified. To ensure the validity of our observations and some doubts about the quality, an independent quality evaluation was carried out, during which certain deficiencies of the object were identified and preliminary suggestions were given on how to correct them, ”said R.Savickienė.
According to her, the results of the evaluation have already been presented to the designers and construction contractors. “We believe that the elimination of defects will be done as soon as possible and the site will serve for many years,” said the municipal representative.

It won’t cost the city anything
The renovation of the Aleksotas site was entrusted to the contractor UAB HSC Baltic.
“We are cooperating with the customer, and there is a warranty period for that,” confirmed the contractor representative, adding that it was “minor defects”, despite which the site could be enjoyed and used.
Furthermore, according to the interlocutor, many defects are not the fault of the contractor but of “poorly designed solutions”. “There were a lot of questions for the designers,” he said.
According to her, everything will work out. “It just came to our attention then. Of course, something will be changed, defects will be corrected,” said the representative.
Jonas Valiulis, the project manager at HSC Baltic, also said that everything will be handled, only the issue of payment will be resolved: it is not known whether the work will be carried out at the expense of the contractor or the designers. In any case, it won’t cost the city anything extra.
We can also see that part of the upper plot is made of poor quality pavement.

First, you need to find out how to fix it so that the problems do not reoccur. After knowing about it, we were able to start working immediately,” said J Valulis In his opinion, it would take between two and three weeks to repair the defects, depending on the decisions and the employment of the employees.
According to J. Valulis, the extent of the flaws that have arisen compared to the entire project is minimal.
The municipality states that during the reconstruction of the Aleksotas viewpoint the contour of its spaces was modified, a roof and retaining walls were installed, a lane for pedestrians and bicycles was installed on V.Čepinskio street up to S. Darius and S streets GirGno. , Vytautas Stairs parallel to the funicular, and paths at the top of the slope, elements of small architecture, reinforced and planted slope, engineering networks (rain, domestic sewage, water supply, drainage, communications, electricity, lighting) were renewed .
