It is true that N. Venckienė did not specify whether he decided to visit parliament or if he sees opportunities to participate in the Seimas elections in October in some way.

So far, N. Venckienė has been referred to the founders of the “The Way of Courage” party. It is true that this political force has not been active recently. Until now, the Drąsos kelias party has not registered to participate in the Seimas elections.

The “The Way of Courage” party was formed in 2012. Then the party led by N. Venckien Luego won 7 seats in the Seimas election. However, halfway through his term, N. Venckienė left Lithuania. The politician lost the mandate of a member of the Seimas due to impeachment.

The Constitutional Court has clarified that a person who has lost his position by impeachment cannot, for life, occupy a position that requires a constitutional oath. According to the Court, to change this provision, it is necessary to amend the Constitution.

Although the Strasbourg court ruled in 2011 that the current ban on lifetime participation in the parliamentary elections for Rolandas Paksas, who had been removed from office, is disproportionate, the Constitution has yet to be amended.

Therefore, N. Venckienė would not be able to participate in the Seimas elections even if he wanted to.

N. Venckienė is currently accused of committing four criminal offenses, three of which are misdemeanors, one of which is a criminal offense. Before her arrest, she had lived in the United States for six years, where she learned about the criminal proceedings against her. Through such actions, the court is convinced that she avoided this criminal proceeding.
