At the congress to be held in Šiauliai district, Ramūnas Karbauskis’ native Naisiai, the peasants decided whether to introduce a rule that would allow only those who were union members for a specified period to run for party chairmanship.

The amendments to the statutes also made it possible to increase the influence of the party president in the election of deputies.
The promoters of the amendments say they will help ensure stability in the party, but critics warn that R. Karbauskis in this way strengthens the chances of preserving the presidency of the party president and establishing the leadership with loyal people.
R. Karbauskis stated that these statutes are extremely important not only for the party, but also for the whole of Lithuania, because, according to the president of LVŽS, in three years the peasants “will rule Lithuania again”.
In accordance with the new approved statutes of the party, the vice-presidents are appointed to the congress by the president himself. Previously, vice presidents were approved by LVŽS departments. If Congress does not approve the candidacy of the Vice President, the President has the right to propose another candidate to Congress.
Critics speculate that the proposal could be directed against Tom Tomilina, who has long been vice president of LVŽS. The politician provoked the displeasure of R. Karbauskis when he supported the Association Law.
Another amendment to the statutes concerns the election of the party president. Under the new procedure, a person who has been a member of the LAS for a continuous period of at least four years can be nominated for the presidency. Candidates for president can be nominated by the council, board, divisions, and whoever wishes to run.
The draft initial amendment to the Bylaws states that a member who has been a member of LVŽS for at least five years can become president. However, several alternatives were presented at the congress: two, three or four. This last alternative received the most support.
This would prevent Saulius Skvernelis from becoming the president of LVŽS in the near future. The former prime minister, although he led the LVŽS list to the Seimas in the second consecutive election, was a party candidate for the position of president, he has not yet joined the LVŽS.
During the congress, it was decided that the term of the party president was four years, although it was proposed to introduce a shorter term: two years.
The LVŽS also approved the general election of the party president, in which all LVŽS members will have the right to vote. Elections will be considered to have been held if at least half of all LVJS members are present and a candidate who has received more than half the votes of LVŽS members who participated in the elections will be considered president-elect. .
