One of the longest railway bridges in the Baltic States in Lithuania is planned

According to the press release, the Switzerland-Zeimiai section is 12.2 km long and includes 2 road viaducts, 1 rail viaduct, 1 road tunnel, 2 regional stops and 1 overpass.

Special scientific noise modeling allows determining where noise reduction measures (silencers and noise barriers) should be installed. The Jonava-Čičinai-Smičkiai, Rogožiai-Čiūdai-Kulva and Jonava-Kėdainiai-Šeduva roads will cross the railway via viaducts or tunnels. To ensure the safety of the railway and the population, there will be no level crossings on the entire Rail Baltica line.

Four local roads will be closed in this section. It will be possible to cross the railway on average every four kilometers.

In this section, an impressive engineering structure is being designed: a bridge over the Neris River. It will be one of the longest railway bridges of 1.5 km in the Baltic States. To protect the environment, there will be no support on the river itself – 150 m. railway tapestries over the river so that fish can migrate freely and aquatic vegetation can flourish.

Detailed technical design of the Kaunas-Ramygala section will be completed in 2021. AB Lietuvos Geležinkelių infrastruktūra has already started preparations for the purchase of construction works for this section. Construction is also slated to begin in 2021.
