According to the girl, life did not really spoil her: her loved ones tried to expel childhood when she was a child, she wanted to dress in dresses, which caused constant anger and tears.

In a small town you have to meet homophobes

Dovilė, who lives in a small town (her real name is known to the editorial board), wanted to remain anonymous because, according to her, the situation regarding LGBT people in Vilnius is completely different, and a small town has to accept many homophobes. However, he hopes that the situation in his hometown will also change over time.

“My style of clothing is different, I dress more youthful, it feels like a crooked appearance on the street,” says Dovilė. She adds that some of those around her are right in their eyes that LGBT people don’t support her.

“I go to Vilnius with my hands folded, this is a different situation than in a small town. <...> In a small town, every second you look at LGBT people in a crooked way, ”added Dovilė.

The girl also often receives hate messages: “Most men write. He comments on everything, he tends to get burned and things like that ”.

According to Dovilė, during his childhood and adolescence, he often thought that he should have been born a boy, not a girl.

“I have felt different from everyone since childhood. I interacted, made friends and spent time with boys, not girls. I looked different from the other girls.

I did not accept myself for a long time and said that I was not as homosexual as I seem to be. Then, I began to mature and read all kinds of pages about it, to take exams in English, “admitted Dovilė.

“It seemed like we were second class, but now the initiatives are rewarding to try to change the situation for LGBT people so that we are no different from straight people.

We are all equal and equal. Still, either later or earlier, we will have to agree because otherwise it will not be so. I want to tell everyone that you don’t have to hide and love yourself just the way you are, “added the girl.

Family members were in shock

According to Deauville, when his family members found out he was gay, they were shocked. They later said that they might have thought about it because they had never brought any boys home and showed no interest in the opposite sex.

“It just came to our notice then. I was practically forced to tell him. I had to go with a friend but he didn’t want to let me go. I was forced to say it, even though I wasn’t ready. I told him I had to go with a friend because I like him. and we make friends.

My mother found out, assured me that everything was fine and understood me. He also said that I am young and that everything can turn upside down.

He explained that this longing could change. I also hope that later I can find a boy that I fall in love with.

But I have already chosen and I must respect my choice. I had a different craving from a young age and I really don’t think it’s going to change, ”says Dovilė.

According to the girl, her mother had tried to disguise her since she was little, but she hated it.

“Now everyone dresses in skirts, dresses, but that doesn’t appeal to me at all. When I was a child, they tried to disguise me and make me feminine.

Mom told me to wear a dress for the holidays; We were always starting to get mad because I never liked them and I never felt comfortable around them. After many years and anger, my mother reconciled that I didn’t like him, ”says the girl.
