The Kaunas police, who keep the taxpayers’ money, continue to play hide and seek from the public. So far, only the official phone numbers of their officers have been classified, and more recently the location of their units has been.
Another secret maneuver
One of the latest trends is the Criminal Police Criminal Registration Division, which operated alongside the Kaunas County Police Chief’s Station (VPK) and disappeared from Laisvės Alley. As of July 1, it will be located on Chemijos Street – under the same roof with the Road Police and Public Order Boards.
This was announced via a short message only on the Kaunas County LSC website, which is not very popular with Kaunas residents. Although it was only there that it was announced that Kaunas County Police Chiefs had moved from the long-term city police headquarters on Vytautas Avenue to Vilijampolė, the Santaka Police Station located on Raudondvaris Street. Or the move of the Economic Crimes Investigation Board to the old Šilainiai Police Station building on Balt Avenue.

In a word, a situation is repeated that is reminiscent of the controversial police reform that took place when Linas Pernavas was the country’s General Police Commissioner. At that time, several Kaunas residents, who urgently needed the help of the police, learned of the fact that their seals had been removed only under such stressful circumstances.
The course of the competition is also classified.
Kauno Diena wrote that the relocation of Kaunas County LSC officials began after the announcement of a tender for the overhaul of their building.
The announcement of this tender highlighted that during the capital of this four-story building almost 4.7 thousand. kv. m for the repair and renovation of a building should be equipped with new workplaces in your shelter and on different floors – workplaces rationally arranged in separate sections. In addition, the engineering networks of the building must be repaired. And all of this must be done while preserving the valuable features of this interwar heritage building.
Neither the Kaunas County LSC nor the Police Department comment on the stage of the competition at this time. “There will be no comment until the procurement procedures are completed,” was the reply.
Until now, he is still working on the Kaunas County LSC building and most of its specialized divisions. The Felony, Organized Crime, and Property Crimes Investigation Boards are still here. However, according to Gintarė Žulytė, the Kaunas County LSC representative, they will be moving to other facilities soon as well. This is scheduled to happen already in autumn. Where the officers of these boards will go has yet to be decided.

Renovation see reformą
The Crime Property Investigation Board is likely located on the former premises of the Division of Criminal Records in Laisvės Alley.
However, according to G.Žulytė, this is not the reason why this chapter was raised there. This is related to another planned reform of the Kaunas police: bringing all response units under one roof. Therefore, the Patrol team, currently located on Savanorių Avenue, will later move to Chemijos Street.
There will be no feedback until the purchase procedures are completed.
Hopefully, all these docks, which include the Kaunas police, will not be turned into a clandestine organization. Although I did not hear from any of the other services or institutions in the city that have labor matters with the Kaunas Police, it was difficult for them to find contacts with the latter’s officials. Although, before the aforementioned Pernavo police reform, the telephones of its officials were published on the Internet, which were supported by taxpayers’ money. As the structures related to the police do so far.
As the usual locations of Kaunas police units change and this is done in the semi-subway, their officers can become even more difficult to reach. For example, in the aforementioned almost two-week-empty premises of the Criminal Police Criminal Registration Unit, today there is no indication where Kaunas residents who came here by inertia and needed urgent police help should look for officers who worked there. However, the sign for this section in Laisvės Alley is still hanging.
