It is said that the first pie of rye was called “host”. It was believed that it would keep him out of trouble. His first bells were burned on the altar, in sacrifice to the goddess of fortune Laima and the goddess Continent. It is advisable not to work on this day so that the winds do not break the roofs of the houses and put rye. It is also said that rye should be sprayed at home so that crows do not break the roof.
The heat won’t go away
Asked about the signs of nature, the time that is approaching, the ethnologist answers that it seems that the heat will not go anywhere.
“On July 10, also known as the ‘Seven Sleeping Brothers’, it was very hot, so we can conclude that the heat will last for a long time,” says L. Klimka.
It was believed that if it rained incessantly on this day, it would rain for the next seven weeks, but if it didn’t rain that day, there would be drought and poor harvest.
The ethnologist says that rye is always hampered by rain, and such a dry climate is the most favorable for it, so there is nothing to worry about.
What does the weather forecast promise in the near future?
The pressure field of the atmosphere is changing: high pressure will be only in the west, low pressure areas will dominate elsewhere. Clouds, sometimes even very watery, will be concentrated in Western European countries, elsewhere cloud cover will be low.
The cool climate has settled in much of Western Europe, but the south and east of the continent will remain hot tomorrow. Thursday morning is sunny, later it will rain a lot, in places with a lot of intensity and with thunderstorms.
In Paris, the heat will be 18-20 degrees, it will be warmer in some places. The rain will hardly affect the heat, the air will rise to 31 – 33, in some places 34 degrees.
“In other words, another hot day with sauna elements. During the day it will rain a lot, in places with a lot of intensity and with thunderstorms. At night it will cool down to 18 – 20, during the day it will fry again to 31 – 33, in some places 34 degrees of heat ”, says meteorologist Naglis Šulija.
On Friday, history will repeat itself: at night it will only rain somewhere, and it probably only comes from the night, and during the day again a lot of summer rain, thunderstorms, the air temperature is about the same as tomorrow, that is and will be hot again.
The weather will be very similar on Saturday. There will be more on Sunday, but it won’t be that hot.
“Well, although exceptional heat of this kind, droughts seem to be avoided even if rivers and lakes do not dry up, this is not only a kind of paradox, but also good news,” notes N. Šulija.
