On Tuesday in Vilnius, in S. Daukantas Square, congratulating on the celebration, he affirmed that the coronation of Mindaugas as king was and continues to be important for his country.

“We share a lot the joy of this date and we feel its exceptional importance for three things. First, it is the common past of our nations, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, one of the most advanced countries in Europe, where Lithuanians and Ukrainians have coexisted freely, ”said V. Zelenskis.

Second, today Ukraine defends its statehood, sovereignty and territorial integrity. During all this time, Lithuania has been our loyal and unchanging partner on this path. Lithuania was one of the first to condemn the annexation of Crimea, and Lithuania was the first to officially express its determination to support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. We will always be grateful for that and will always be the first to come to the rescue, “said the President of Ukraine.

“Third. This is our common tomorrow. Lithuania and Ukraine do not have a common border, but we have common values, interests and wishes in the study,” he said.

Charles Michel, President of the European Council, for his part, said that understanding history was essential to face all the challenges facing the EU.

“Lithuania’s voice is always strong and strong when it comes to building Europe. And this freedom, the ability to act, is perfectly visible when it stands in solidarity with the Belarusian brothers. Our work to ensure that this country and nation is free and able choosing your own future is one of our main responsibilities, ”Capt. Michelis said.

He stressed that the joint presence of the President of Ukraine demonstrates the commitment to defend the freedom and territorial integrity of the countries.
