While still in school, in her final classes, Gabrielė was already determined to pursue a career in law, according to a press release. At that time, this profession was popular and considered prestigious among her peers, which is why she encouraged her to pursue this diploma.

“The path of a lawyer seemed not only successful, but also significant; at that time I naively believed that after becoming a lawyer I would bring order to Lithuania,” laughs G. Skairytė, recalling his reasons for studying law.

The experience of studying law was terrifying

The enthusiasm to become a lawyer took relatively little time; already in the second year, the girl saw that the law was not for her. Learning was uninteresting and at the same time difficult, when I was studying for the first time I was faced with what it means to not pass an exam. There was always a diligent and diligent student in the school, so that experience scared Gabriel. After sharing her concerns with family members and gaining support, she decided to take a break and take an academic leave for one year.

Since there were never any of those people who could sit at home without any activity, they immediately started looking for job openings. After being invited to work in the field of security at the Vilnius airport, he successfully passed the selection and thus found himself in the field of aviation.

“A year later, I went back to law school and finished them, and I worked at Vilnius airport for five years. My career was great, starting from the lowest rung, working my way up. But over time, I felt exhausted. I would still consider. Furthermore, perhaps it would be worthwhile to start aviation-related studies, but the very clear answer was no. I will not be a pilot and the aviation directorate was not interested in me, so I did not intend to link the distant future with the aviation, ”says G. Skairytė.

He discovered the vocation through training.

Gabrielė soon left his job at Vilnius airport and got a job at another company providing aviation security services. As an instructor, this time she was responsible for education: she conducted various trainings and seminars. At that moment he thought that his true vocation was teaching and the future pedagogy.

“I come from a family of teachers, my mother is a Lithuanian language teacher. I remember we had many conversations about the teaching profession. My mother encouraged me to study languages, Lithuanian or English, because she saw great potential in this field for me. Finally, when the deliberations came, perhaps to become a teacher, my mother said very nice words: “You need to live in a way that you enjoy life. If you’re happy, just keep going, remember Gabrielė. – I did not attack with my head held high, the discussions took even three years before I decided to study pedagogy. But now I am very clear that I want to be in school, I want to teach the children. “

After graduating from the first year of studies at the Vytautas Magnus University Academy of Education in Vilnius, who had moved to virtual space due to quarantine restrictions, Gabrielė says she is looking forward to receiving live lectures, to meet her teachers , classmates, as well as practicing at school.

I would not like to work in a private school.

“I would like to work in a public school, certainly not in a private school,” Gabrielė shares his thoughts when asked how he sees his career in the years to come. – Not all children can study in a private school, that is why I believe that the diversity of children in the state system is greater. I want to work with both gifted children and those who may be struggling and who need the teacher’s attention and help the most. “

At school, Gabriele seems to have the most important sense of community: cooperation with colleagues, children, and their families. According to her, more and more families are realizing how important it is for parents to take an interest in how their child is doing in school: the days when parents would bring a child, close the door and think that I I brought you and went out. of his personality.

“While studying pedagogy, I discovered the pleasure of learning. I am very happy with all the tasks and challenges that I have to face. The teaching profession is amazing in the sense that lifelong learning is necessary – this path is extremely meaningful, energetic, and purposeful. My goal is to make the most of my studies, gain knowledge, open the doors of the school and keep up with the challenges, experience and innovations that await there, ”says G. Skairytė.
