By law, clemency is granted at the request of the convicts themselves. These requests can only be considered once the court ruling has entered into force.

The pardon commission met on May 28 and considered 54 applications from convicts.

The Grace Commission is made up of the presidents of the Lithuanian Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, the Minister of Justice, the Attorney General or his authorized representatives, the president’s legal advisor, representatives of the Lithuanian Association of Criminologists, the Society for the Care of Prisoners. and the Lithuanian Victim Support Association.
