The start of the game promised a lot of action on both goals. Both teams actively put pressure on the opponents and did not allow to easily take the initiative.
Eddy Onazi’s shot from the left in the 23rd minute, which kept the visitors from scoring again. Later, Tomislav Kišas made a good position for the shot in the penalty area, playing Olaide Badmus on the penalty spot, but the Croatian shot hit the goal.
In the 35th minute, the Knights had the most dangerous opportunity in the opposing goal. The referee let Rokas Filipavičius take it quickly, much to the dismay of the unprepared goalkeeper, but Mindaugas Grigaravičius made a spectacular save that Edvinas Gertmonas nevertheless made a spectacular save. Žalgiris responded with a dangerous attack a minute later: Hugo Videmontas shook the hosts’ goal construction with a heavy blow.
The second half was the opposite of the first half of the match. Although “Žalgiris” tried to hit the rivals and break the ice at the beginning of the quarter, the “Knights” unraveled the rivals’ intentions like crazy and did not allow to create dangerous situations. The champions had more control over the ball and often took corners, but they were unsuccessful.
In the last minutes of the game, Vladimir Cheburin’s students staged a storm in the rival goal: H. Videmont hit the crossbar again in a situation of gratitude. Meanwhile, goalkeeper A. Vitkauskas managed to neutralize the confusion.
The match ended in a draw 0: 0. “Žalgiris” with 41 points is still in the first position of the table. The Knights, who have not lost the sixth straight game (23 points), narrowed the lag to the fifth-place Kaunas district. Hegelmann Litauen joins two points.
Another rather unexpected result was recorded in league A: Kėdainiai “Nevėžis” took points away from the opponent who is fighting for the title.
The people of Kėdainiai played 1: 1 (1: 0) with Kauno Žalgiris at home in the match on Matchday 21 and won the 8th point.
The match started well for the hosts: Evaldas Kugys, who started the duel for the first time at the start, came closer to goal and defeated Deividas Mikelionis, marking her first time in the Lithuanian championship during her career.
The visitors were able to regain their balance, but Philipas Otele, from a good position, missed the goal and Karolis Šilkaitis’s shot was perfectly supported by Sergijus Melašenka.
However, Martynas Dapkus made a spectacular save. It is true that in the second half, Kaunas created fewer dangerous episodes than before the break.
In turn, Nevėžis, a year into the fight after substitute Alexa Kyeremeh, repeatedly threatened the opponents’ goal by attacking and in several situations the Kaunas midfielders were forced to defend themselves from very dangerous episodes.
Kauno Žalgiris has 37 points on his account and is currently in fourth place in the tournament table.
Marijampolė club “Sūduva” finished a series of five consecutive matches without success and beat Gargždai “Banga” players 2: 0 (1: 0).
The Suvalkians, led by Víctor Basadre, did not waste much time in the opposing penalty area and developed a favorable game.
The first serious chance came in the 19th minute, when “Banga” goalkeeper Ignas Driomovas played perfectly, repelled the insidious blow from Alexandros Makasio. Five minutes into the game, a free kick from Romano Habrano found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick.
The hosts were exemplary, but the dominance of “Sūduva” turned into a goal in the 37th minute. Although Habrano’s strong pass to the penalty area was blocked by I. Driomov, the rebound was rushed to be repaired by Serge Nyuiadzi, a ex near the right axis, who cleared the cobwebs of the goal with a powerful shot.
After the break, Banga was the first to have a good chance to score. In the 54th minute, an incisive pass through the middle gave Armando Sveistris a chance to increase the lead for Makis Giannikoglou, who did not disappoint.
After a few minutes, Sūduva didn’t take the opportunity to double the lead. After the pass from the edge of the field, R. Habran was in front of the goal in the left turn, but could not hit the goal.
The visitors maintained control of the game and already scored the second goal in the 89th minute. Following a free kick by Nicolas Gorobsov, Marijampole rookie Alexandros Gargalatzidis successfully marked his debut for the team with a precise shot.
Sūduva (39 points) climbed to second place in the standings after the victory and narrowed the gap with club Žalgiris (41 points). Banga remains in seventh place with 17 points.
