The crime, for which E. Voiniušas and I. Gridnevas are being investigated in court, was committed on the night of December 8 last year in Vilnius, in a forest near Kuršių street.
According to the prosecution, E. Voiniušas and I. Gridnevas attacked the former Yaroslav during a conflict after drinking. He received many blows to the legs and arms. After the execution, the man was found in the hospital but was already in a coma, and a few weeks later his life was extinguished. Both defendants pleaded guilty in part.
The slaughter was not expected
“I admit that they beat me and I don’t know what killed him, I am not an expert and I cannot evaluate those things,” E. Voiniušas told the court.
In his testimony, he revealed that he lived in the same area as Yaroslav and was practically a neighbor, by which he met. It is true that it is still not entirely clear why the fatal conflict occurred.
“I did not understand the beginning of the conflict,” admitted E. Voiniušas himself. According to him, the trio drank champagne together with another girl. The controversy arose when someone from the company accused Yaroslav of raping a former panel a decade ago.
“It just came to our attention then. Then there were fights. I saw Igor hitting him, then I went over and hit him. The three of us were normally injured,” said the defendant.

He claimed that the beaten man briefly lay down and then stood up and turned towards the city. The mosques sat in the car and went out to continue the fun – they ate pizza and drank vodka.
“Now I realize that a person can die from my blows. But I didn’t even think about killing such a person. Sorry this happened, no one wanted to kill me. Beat, yes, but not kill. I’m very sorry, “said E. Voiniušas.
Yaroslav was still able to call his friends and ask for help. When they saw the man brutally beaten, they immediately called an ambulance. However, in hospital Yaroslav fell into a coma.
I. Gridnev himself did not state his version of events, he agreed to testify only after all the witnesses had been questioned.

He remembered the threats
In this case, the older sister and the brother of the murdered were recognized as victims. They seek to convict the defendants of 20,000 each. for moral damage
In court, the victim, Renata, who was having a hard time holding back tears, said she found out the next day what had happened to her brother.
“They called me from an unknown room at night. In the morning I called again, the girl answered, said that Yaroslav was in a coma, in the hospital. He broke it,” the woman recalled.
The same girl named Renata and the two boys who were ruthlessly violent against her brother. The woman decided to speak to them herself and received E. Voinius’s phone number, although she had not met him before.
“I called him, he answered. I ask, do you know what you did. They say yes, I know, I did the right thing, “he said in conversation.
E. Voiniušas hung up, but a few hours later he called Renata again.
“Then he tells me not to go where I don’t need to, because it will be me too. They say, walk carefully in Naujininkai, “the woman recalled.

All with a criminal record
Both the defendant and his victim have already had criminal experience and are behind bars. As Yaroslav’s sister revealed, her brother was released from prison in the summer of 2020, where he was found due to a phone fraud.
“It just came to our attention then. He rented an apartment, worked in construction,” Renata said, adding that despite the lapses, he was a kind man.
He did not believe the speeches of the murder defendants that the brother was beaten for some kind of rape a decade ago. He said the cause of the disagreement could have been something else.
“He told me that some friends who called him had taken him to the forest, they told him to dig a hole. And after that he has asked to give 3,000. euros. They were friendly friends and they didn’t share money, ”he hinted, but couldn’t say anything else because he didn’t know much about this aspect of his brother’s life.
As soon as he heard about this event, I. Gridnev jumped out of his seat. He explained to the court that he had only been released on probation in July, and from then until November he showed hatred and was kept strictly in pre-trial detention. Therefore, it had nothing to do with Yaroslav’s transfer to the forest.
The court will continue to find out the real cause of the conflict, and it is planned to invite his friends and acquaintances to the next hearings.
