Choosing the most beautiful goat in Ramygala, with a population of 1,500, is a serious celebration. The event, which will take place for the eleventh time, attracts groups of onlookers at all times. If eleven years ago the goat was not a miracle, now it can be a child of the city, says event organizer Loreta Kubiliūnienė.
The goats came from different corners
The director of the Ramygala Cultural Center, L. Kubiliūnienė, revealed that the goats came to the competition from various corners of the Panevėžys district.
“This year we received not only goats from Ramygala, but also from other villages, even from the Bistrampolis mansion. Basically the participants are the same every year, but there are also newcomers. This year we had five participants,” said L. Kubiliūnienė .
Prepare for the competition in advance
The owner of the goats Šilkutė and Žvaigždutė Elena Augulienė says that the preparation for the competition begins in advance.
“We measure the goats’ clothes and get used to the collars. Going to a party still requires dressing well. We comb our hair and eat better, we drink it to fill ourselves up, but they still fade, they like to sing, they are singers,” said the woman.
Four-legged ones should not only look beautiful, but also walk gracefully. The hostess jokes that the phrase “stubborn as a goat” very accurately describes this animal.
“It just came to our knowledge then. You have to work very seriously with them if you want to teach something. The grandchildren come, they take them around the yard, they take them to the park, they seduce them, they take them back home so they get used to it more. to walk that goat. When they are used to the stable, they do not want to go, “says E. Augulienė.

At this year’s celebration, the public chose the winner. According to L. Kubiliūnienė, director of the Ramygala Cultural Center, each year a goat is collected in a different way: a commission is formed, spectators vote, etc. This time the second option was chosen.
“All goats are winners, that’s why everyone always receives prizes, but she herself, the most beautiful is crowned,” added the woman.
