The draft description of the above procedure is posted here. According to the LTSA, after the publication of the project, public discussions and suggestions on how to adjust and improve the procedure are expected. These offers are welcome until July 9.

According to LTSA experts, a mandatory category A1 practical driving course typically lasts 10 hours.

“Taking into account that light motorcycles have 24 years and 2 years of driving experience in category B vehicles, that is, they have sufficient knowledge of real vehicle traffic, it is proposed to reduce the practical driving training course to 5 hours “- Delfi”, commented Eglė Kučinskaitė, Head of the Department of Communication and International Cooperation of LTSA.

The previous 5 hours of practical training will consist of 4 hours. in the training field and in real traffic conditions and 1 h. – final practical driving test.

Only after passing the final credit in driving school can a person apply to SE Regitra for the right to drive a category A1 vehicle. LTSA believes this opportunity will be seized by drivers who are experienced in driving AM vehicles and who have realistically assessed their ability to ride a more powerful lightweight motorcycle.

“Riding even a small, lightweight motorcycle can be a big challenge for some riders. Therefore, before granting the right to drive on the streets and highways, it is necessary to ensure that such a driver has the appropriate skills and knowledge. At this stage of the project discussion, we want the public discussion of the project to involve not only future motorcyclists, but also professional motorcyclists, drivers of other vehicles, representatives of driving schools, etc. We invite you to discuss, because we believe that dialogue with the public is necessary “- says the director of LTSA, Genius Lukošius.

Filming offers

The draft description of the driver training procedure also proposes filming the final test at the driving school.

The goal is not only to establish the truth in the event of a dispute by interpreting the actions of a student or driving instructor, but also to ensure that people make a real and responsible assessment of their ability to drive A1 vehicles prior to a driving test. . .

All suggestions and arguments received will be evaluated to reach a final decision on the conditions in which drivers of cars with the required age and category B and driving experience can drive light motorcycles.

LTSA invites the public and interested parties by July 9. provide reasoned comments and suggestions. There are several ways to do this:
