M. Navickaitė wanted to study medicine while still studying in lower classes, and his close surroundings also influenced his choice of profession. The interviewee admitted that it was not difficult for her to choose the direction. It was in that direction a long time ago, I knew I would study natural science. It can be said that medical studies entered the girl’s life naturally: the final decision was made when she was eleven years old.
How important are the test results?
Realizing that almost all the hundreds of people choose to study medicine, M. Navickaitė objected: it is more a stereotype than the actual situation. “Everyone who graduates with good grades and receives high test scores is where they want it most. They have a better chance of coming together everywhere.” Medicine is not the only specialty coveted by centenarians, “he said with a smile.
This year’s graduates emphasize that the challenges of distance education were really difficult, so they were less prepared for the exams. But perhaps you should consider it in a more positive light: after all, this is a great opportunity to get the basics that will later come in handy for becoming a good student.
M. Navickaitė agreed with the stated idea: during distance learning she learns more independently, less direct supervision. Such an education prepares for a successful university study.
“While you study, you will need to spend a lot of time on the computer, reading textbooks, writing many different jobs independently. Perhaps, in fact, graduates will be more college ready. However, I think such a sudden transition could have caused a lot of stress and many people had difficulties, “he said.
Very few graduates remained until the maturity exam session. When asked how they would be recommended to use this time, or stress, to study, M. Navickaitė said that if a student studied during the twelve years, one week before the exams they should dedicate themselves to repeating things, “refreshing” the memory.
“There is no need to overdo it, especially on the last night before exams. “I prefer to have a good night’s sleep tonight, and eat a good meal in the morning, so it will really be better to pass the exam,” said the interlocutor.
When asked to look from a perspective at how important test results are, whether it is worth sacrificing a lot for them and how much benefit it will bring in the future, M. Navickaitė, 100, reasoned that it is more important to study consistently , the twelve years. Then you won’t have to sacrifice all your free time and social life in your last school year. If that was not the case, it is not worth worrying or getting too nervous, especially sacrificing something for a few brands. However, of course, there is definitely a success factor as well.
“Test results are important if you want to enter a competitive specialty where high results are required. However, only after entering the university no one talks about the results of the maturity exams, no one remembers them, “he said.
If you know your strengths, don’t worry about the weakest.
Each graduate knows their strengths and weaknesses. Some are more successful in the study of mathematics, others in the humanities. It is more difficult to choose when things are going well. “If you know your strengths, you do not have to worry about the weakest. Be that as it may, in time we will all work, we will be specialized enough”, – M. Navickaitė was not without optimism.
However, education experts say it pays to stretch, to delve into the basic sciences, no matter how successful you are, it will come in handy when choosing a profession in the future.
Mrs. Navickaitė has a different opinion on this topic. According to her, more attention should be paid to what she likes or improves: “You don’t have to force yourself to do things that you don’t like and that are not successful, they are closely related. You don’t succeed because you don’t like it and, conversely, you don’t like it because you don’t succeed. You have to consider what you like. If you are a great specialist in your field, even if the specialty seems not very prestigious, you can achieve a lot everywhere, you can feel good ”, she is convinced.
Get five hundred on exams: black job or science talents, where’s the secret?
“I cannot say that everything came from the air, that I was already born with that knowledge. Certainly not, I learned a lot. Perhaps the success smiled more, the general combination,” he said.
In M. Navickaitė’s words, the excellent test results did not bring drastic changes. “I can’t say it was unexpected. Sure, I didn’t know if there would be hundreds, but I felt it would keep me good. I always studied well, so it wasn’t news or surprise to anyone. Still, I think a person is not only judged by the learning outcomes. Whatever the outcome, family and friends will support it. “
Tasty student life – likes it
Among the centenarians there are many students from the Lyceum of Vilnius. According to M. Navickaitė, much also depends on the educational institution: “Lyceums, gyms select students, which is why more motivated and talented students gather. There is more motivation inside, when others are successful and want to improve themselves. This results in better results, surrounded by people who care, who try, learn. “
Today, M. Navickaitė just took the last freshman exam. Today’s sophomore can already compare: what’s the difference between a school and studying at a university? “It was necessary to reorient (I’m talking about the learning style) to find the internal motivation, to understand that one is learning for oneself,” he said.
What challenges did you face as a student? “Learning is more difficult than school: more work is needed. Nobody says: how much and what to read, you learn on your own initiative, not when someone from the environment tells you. It takes a lot of awareness and understanding to discover everything possible to continue succeeding ”, M. Navickaitė shared his experience.
The interviewee pointed out that not only scientific but also social life is important at the university: “New acquaintances and new experiences have emerged. The year was successful and exciting: the lives of university students were enriched. Everyone experiences it in their own way. “
Vilnius is open, he has not yet tried the real life of the students, he did not have to leave his hometown. Although there was not a complete student experience, according to the student, it is still different than in school.
When asked to compare what is really different, M. Navickaitė noted that the horizons at the university had widened. The school was surrounded by classmates and communication with students from other schools was less frequent. And in college, everyone mingles and comes together through a variety of activities. “Communicate not only with the group, but also with the entire course, students from other faculties, other courses,” said the future doctor, adding that when he meets more different people, he understands that not everything is determined by grades and level of study.
M. Navickaitė assured that while studying at the university, a different approach emerged from a person, he understood that they are all interesting in their own way, although they are not super gifted in science: “Perhaps you are interested in interesting things, have exceptional knowledge. Ultimately, you will understand that they are all unique, capable of developing in a wide variety of areas. “
