“During the active tourism season, more tourists come to the tourist areas of Klaipėda County, so their security is also handled by the reinforced forces of police officers.
For example, in Palanga alone, around three times more civil servants work in summer than usual.
Additional forces are used from other counties in the country, actively supported by police sympathizers, if necessary, forces from the marksmen’s unions or other social partners. This year, for the first time, the cavalry officers will patrol in Palanga, the horse patrols will be carried out in the resort parks, at the accesses to the dunes, where it is more difficult to reach by car ”, says Andromeda Grauslienė, Head of the Department Communication. of the Klaipėda County Police Chief Commissariat.

According to A. Grauslienė, there are many patrol officers everywhere: prevention and community officials constantly organize raids on beaches, as well as in parks or other places popular with vacationers and tourists. People are constantly being warned to protect their personal belongings from long-fingered people, and they are urged to follow the rules to ensure safe rest.

“Palanga officials have not yet recorded the jump in crime this year, but there are already isolated robberies of cars, on the beaches, when things are taken that are mostly left unattended. Most of the time computers, mobile devices, bags, wallets, jewelry, bicycles, scooters, etc. are lost. When people come to the beaches, enjoy the sun, the sea, and often leave their personal belongings unattended, this is definitely not the case: their owners are primarily responsible for the safety of personal belongings. In summer, various KET violations are more frequently recorded in tourist areas of our county, especially due to cars being left in prohibited locations. Violations of public order are increasing, with good weather people have more fun in cafes, outdoor terraces, forgetting or relaxing and making noise, so it is natural that complaints about noise also increase “, said the Head of the Communication Department of Klaipėda. Officials also remind that there is definitely no place for expensive items on the beach or near lakes. And if you already need a mobile phone or more money, don’t leave your bag unattended even for a short period of time.

Thieves also search arrivals cars. The authorities warn that valuables should not be left in cars, not only in the cabin, but also in the trunk, especially if they are placed in the trunk after reaching the parking lot where the car will be left. It is necessary to check if you have properly closed the windows and sunroof, or if you have actually locked the door, it is recommended to turn on the alarm. It is advisable to park the bicycles in a visible place, make sure to lock them.

Ramūnas Matonis, Head of the Communication Department of the Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior, emphasizes that it is necessary to follow these tips not only in the coastal region, but also in other recreational areas near lakes, rivers or other places of interest. .

Also, summer begins with planning, where most people usually gather.

“Before each summer season, meetings are held with representatives of various services, mayors of tourist towns, where the main highlights are discussed. As every year, this year additional police forces will be sent to the coast: officers from various services, police sympathizers, members of the Riflemen’s Union. Officials of the Public Security Service also patrol Palanga, ”says R. Matonis.

Lovers of speed should also roam – the so-called Black Widow can lurk in any boiled Lithuanian.

“This year, up to 10 additional employees work every working day and up to 20 officers on weekends. On weekends, officers from the Lithuanian Highway Police Service organize raids. The focus on the coast will be exceptional throughout summer, since a large part of the entire population of Lithuania gathers there ”, adds the Head of the Communication Department of the Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior.

According to officials, the most popular crimes in the summer are still robberies, violations of public order, consumption of alcohol in public places, as well as numerous infractions of various traffic regulations.
