Panevėžys District Community Official Darius Petraitis explained that the goal of the “Neighbors to Neighbors” contest is to encourage district residents to be more active, help their neighbors and not stay at home.
“I am very happy that the number of participants in the competition is growing every year. This year we received 7 candidates in the district competition. The competition helps to reward the most active members of the communities, who are a true engine to create the well-being of the village. After all, everyone dreams of a good neighbor who will always help: both in happiness and in misfortune. Therefore, this competition allows us to reward such good neighbors and show that their misery is not in vain ” said D. Petraitis.
Awards – for everyone
Darius Butkevičius, a member of the rural community of Upytė, became the winner of the Kaimynų Naighynas competition in the Panevėžys district. According to a community official, the winner was chosen by a specially formed commission. “Of course, the winner was really helped by the wonderful description provided by his community colleagues. He is one of the most active members of the rural Upytė community, so he really deserves this title. However, even if the winner is alone, we will reward all participants for being motivated to continue working for their neighbors, “he said.
In addition to the winner, Valdemaras Kačarauskas and Algimantas Pamarnackas, members of the Bitė community of Smilgiai, Vidas Jablonskis, member of the community of the Vadokliai-Mikėnai people, Zenonas Bataitis, neighbor of the residents of Raguva Darius and Girėnas streets, and Inga Čepaitien, Community members from Pragarėlė village were nominated in the competition.
The participants of the contest will be awarded the prizes established in the Panevėžys district municipality project “Be safe” and in the Panevėžys city project “Let’s create a safe community together”.
