During the formation of the Government, the president expressed his opinion on all the candidates officially nominated for ministers. The presidency does not comment on the deliberations, rumors and reflections of individual politicians, ”affirms the president’s communication group in a comment sent to Elta.

Foreign Minister G. Landsbergis said on the television program “Lietuvos rytas” “24/7” that he was aware that the Presidency was looking for A. Skaisgirytė to head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“I myself know the fact,” said the minister on the 24/7 Lietuvos Rytas television program, noting that he considered this information important.

“I think this is important information,” said the minister.

However, he did not dare to evaluate the fact itself. Mr Landsbergis believes that it would be simply wrong for him, as Foreign Minister, to do that.

“I would not like to evaluate other potential candidates for this position, it would be wrong,” he said.

Relations between the presidency and the ruling Conservative Party are clouded by disagreements over greater representation on the European Council (EVS).

In an interview with Elta, G. Landsbergis has said that one of the biggest obstacles to solving some stuck problems is A. Skaisgirytė, the president’s senior adviser. His attitude during the public communication, the minister said, does not contribute to solving some of the stuck problems, including the record problem of an empty manager’s chair at the Lithuanian embassy to the EU.
