During a press conference in Minsk on Monday, A. Filatov stated that on June 3, five migrants who had been detained by Lithuanians crossed the border from the Belarusian side, but that, according to him, so far no information has been provided to the respect.

“I want to mention that there are specific facts about violations of the agreement by Lithuanian colleagues who publish ordinary ‘forgeries’ (fake news),” said A. Filatovas during a press conference in Minsk.

“On June 3, despite legal demands to stop, five strangers arrived at the border by car, left the car, violated the state border, and the Lithuanian border guards were informed about it,” said A. Filatovas and demonstrated the images of illegal detention by Lithuanian border guards.

“As it should be according to the agreements, the information about the detainees, as well as other data, has not been transferred to Belarus until now,” the Belarusian official said.

He also showed a record that the Lithuanian border guard, according to him, “is obviously destroying the tracks of offenders on the side of their territory.”

“According to all the agreements, the fingerprint transfer had to be done, because you can see that the fingerprints were on both the Lithuanian and the Belarusian side,” said the Belarusian representative.

Meanwhile, the representative of the State Border Guard Service, Giedrius Mišutis, told BNS that he could not yet comment on the specific situation, but emphasized that Belarusian officials do not cooperate in the investigation of incidents at the border.

“You have to look at what happened, look at the details, where it happened. We tend to cooperate. (…) In every case where an incident occurs at the border, normally both parties investigate it by notifying each other. Since the end of last year, especially recently, as we have registered violations, we can say that there has been practically no cooperation from them, ”said the representative of the border guards.

“Either the places of the violation are not visited or not recognized if clear evidence is provided. We can say that there is no cooperation on your part. But in each case, we invite you to follow all the rules of the investigation,” he added.

Mr. Mišutis also stated that he could not comment on the video shown. He stated that he did not understand why the Lithuanian border guards should conceal the tracks of the offenders.

“What would be the goal of a Lithuanian border guard to destroy the tracks? After all, those traces are proof of the border violation. Destroying traces, well, it is by no means acceptable, ”said the SBGS representative.

Speaking about the record of the Lithuanian border guards presented at the meeting of the Defense and National Security Committee of the Seimas, in which the Belarusian border guard compares the traces, A. Filatov called it “completely false”.

During the press conference, the representative of Belarus presented a table on illegal immigrants detained on the border with Lithuania.

Belarusians claim to have detained 162 illegal immigrants at the border with Lithuania in 2017, 164 in 2018, 77 in 2019, 72 in 2020 and 55 in the first quarter of this year.

According to Lithuanian data, 387 illegal immigrants from Belarus tried to enter Lithuania this year.

That number is almost five times higher than in all of 2020. Last year, 81 of those foreigners were detained. In 2019, border guards captured 46 illegal immigrants, and in 2018, 104.

Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė takes the position that the increased flow of illegal immigrants is a deliberate policy of the regime against the Lithuanian state, according to her, showing that a hybrid war has started.

He has also said that Belarusian officials may be involved in the smuggling of illegal immigrants from Belarus, as they say they do not see illegal immigrants, trying to hide their traces.

During the Seimas Committee meeting, the head of the State Border Guard Service, Rustam Liubayev, showed material about how Belarusian officials are comparing a section of security sand after migrant migration so that no traces can be seen.
