In the last quarter, the Poles had a 10-point lead (72:62). Although the Mexicans had reduced the gap to 2 points at the end of the match, the Polish basketball players did not miss the victory.
Among the winners, Adam Wačynski was the most productive, scoring 14 points. Michalas Michalakas added 13 points, Jakubas Garbačas added 12 points.
Gabriel Girón scored 17 points for the Mexican national team, Orlando Méndez added 14 and Jorge Camacho 13.
The Olympic qualifying basketball tournament in Kaunas will be held from June 29 to July 4. The Lithuanian team will play in Group A with teams from Venezuela and South Korea. The next group will feature Slovenian, Polish and Angolan basketball players.
The two best teams in the group will advance to the semi-finals, at this stage the Lithuanian and Polish teams could meet.
Mexican basketball players will find their way to the Olympics in playoffs in Croatia. The group’s rivals will be Russian and German basketball players.
The Tokyo Olympics will be held in 2021. July 23 – August 8.
