“It just came to our notice then. Frontex also carries out returns and deportations across Europe. This is an opportunity for us to participate in return procedures: Frontex would return those migrants who have not been granted refugee status,” L. Kasčiūnas said.
He explained that the objectives of illegal border migrants are always carefully evaluated: if they are fleeing a real threat to life and repression, or if they are still economic migrants. Such an inspection can take about half a year.
On the last day, according to SBGS, 32 illegal immigrants were detained in the border section of the Ignalina district. The total number of illegal immigrants detained while crossing the Lithuanian-Belarusian border this year exceeded 300.
On Friday, in Pabradė, next to the Foreigners Registration Center, where all the seats are already occupied, the construction of a military tent to house illegal immigrants will begin. It is planned to be equipped with up to 350 seats.
