Storms from Ž.Pavilionis’ speeches, not only in Vilnius, but also in Tbilisi

Jokers contacted Ž.Pavilionis in the spring of this year. The conversation became known at the end of April, when it became clear that the man posing as Volkov was provoking politicians against the Baltic states, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and other countries.

In a conversation with L. Volkov, the Lithuanian MP not only urged the interlocutor not to pay attention to the attitude of President Gitanas Nausėda, but also allowed discussions about Sakartvelas. And this did not go unnoticed in Tbilisi.

He remembered the times of Saakashvili

For example, he said he was involved in a personal war against the leader of Sakartwell’s ruling Georgia’s Dream party, billionaire Bidzin Ivanishvili.

Mr Pavilionis also said that Sweden was currently “holding the front line of the whole EU” in Sakartvele, recalling the effectiveness of potato diplomacy in mobilizing US support when Mikheil Saakashvili was in the presidency.

“Obama hated Saakashvili, but then Sakartwell diplomacy … Temur Jacobashvili (former ambassador of the country to the United States, ed.) – God believes they took Washington. There was not a single research center that did not discuss Sakartvelas” Ž.Pavilionis said of a specific diplomat.

For the media and the ruling Sakartwell politicians, such comments did not pass my ears.

A.Talakvadze: Such statements shock all who understand politics, because they go beyond the principles declared by the Pavilion itself.

True, Imedi News, a pro-government media outlet, reported more actively on Ž.Pavilionis’ thoughts, especially since Lithuania’s visit to Tbilisi in February was outraged when he openly sided with the opposition and claimed that the arrest of the opponent Nikanor Melija would receive an international response and possible sanctions.

At the time, Sakartwell Prime Minister Iraklis Garibashvili declared J. Pavilionis’ “offensive” rhetoric unacceptable.

Garibashvili has now spoken. Sakartwell’s head of government said he was not really interested in what Ž.Pavilionis was saying; by the way, he called the latter Gižimantu, which means “crazy” in the language of potatoes.

The prime minister only assured that it is important that Lithuanian President G. Nausėda arrives in Sakartvela this week and that Sakartvelas perfectly matches with Lithuania.

The vice-president of Parliament, Archil Talakvadze, was more outspoken, saying that “such statements shock all who understand politics because they go beyond the principles declared by the Pavilion itself.”

According to A.Talakvadze, Ž.Pavilionis should provide explanations as soon as possible.

Finally, Mamuka Mdinaradze, representative of the ruling party in parliament, while admitting that he condemned the way in which the Lithuanian speeches were obtained, did not spare any criticism of Ž.Pavilionis either.

“The fact that he is fighting specific individuals, groups and parties in Sakartvele shows his intentions. One should ask why and according to whose instructions it is done, what animates everything. <...> If this is your position and the people whose mill is turning, additional explanations will be needed, “said M. Mdinaradze.

“He has a political line and sticks to it”

The conservative Ž.Pavilionis, who associates the suitors with Russia’s special services, also said in a conversation: “The Foreign Minister thinks like me, we are the largest party, we have a parliamentary republic and the president is symbolic. And that is.”

His statement aroused passions in Lithuanian politics. Giedrius Siurplys, the representative of the opposition peasants and the shadow foreign minister, declared that he would initiate the removal of Ž.Pavilionis from the post of chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

And the presidency announced that Ž.Pavilionis’ comments and “attempts to distort the president’s status weaken Lithuania’s positions.”

Ž.Pavilionis 15 minutes On Wednesday night, commenting on echoes of his leaked conversation with Sakartvele, he regretted the general focus on this “attack.”

“It is common practice in civilized Western countries not to comment on products prepared by intelligence or special services that are specifically designed to elicit one reaction or another that divides us from within.

It would be time for the representatives of our opposition, the representatives of the presidency, as well as the media, who declare the fight against disinformation, to learn and not misrepresent the content of such products, which in various ways tend to stick. ”, Said the parliamentarian.

Ž.Pavilionis does not want to comment on the content of the published conversation, because “this is already a help for the Kremlin’s special services.”

“You know very well my approach and the crisis in Sakartvele. Several people have appreciated it in various ways, but then they have seen the leader of the opposition who was released from prison personally thank me for drawing attention to the political crisis, which has taken so long the EU and various US negotiators to find a compromise.

A compromise has been reached, which I welcome and congratulate. “ declared Ž.Pavilionis.

Laurynas Jonavičius, Political Scientist at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University 15 minutes He also said that he did not think such rhetoric from Ž.Pavilionis should be surprising.

“It just came to our attention then. The position is coherent, radical enough and specific: your right to defend such a position.

Whether it is right or wrong is not an answer. Some look the same, some look different. Each of us has rules that we follow, and those rules are often quite different.

It is an integral part of the democratic process. People have the right to have an opinion and defend it, and others have the right to disagree and argue, as long as everything goes according to the normal rules of the game, everything is in order, ”said L. Jonavičius.
