Shortly before, the contract with the Lithuanian champion club was extended by the Frenchman Joffrey Lauvergne, and at the end of the season he did the same. Lukas Lekavičius. A new one-year contract was signed with him with the possibility of extending the contract for another year.
In 2014, this will be the sixth season in the Žalgiris ranks for the attacker who wore the main team jersey for the first time. The basketball player spent two years at the Panathinaikos Club in Athens.
The 27-year-old from Šilalė also had the opportunity to stay in Kaunas for one more year on the contract last summer and took advantage of it, and has now decided to continue his career in Kaunas.
In the Euroleague, the 180cm tall defender played 33 games this season, during which he scored an average of 8.2 points, made 2.4 assists and attacked with up to 50 percent gameplay accuracy.

“I am satisfied with everything in Kaunas, we have excellent conditions here, and the whole season, considering all the circumstances, it was not bad. My friend also likes to be here, we will soon have a baby, so I don’t want to get lost anywhere. The Lithuanian team is looking forward to summer and next year we have the potential to grow with Žalgiris, ”said Žalgiris.lt, one of the team’s fan favorites.
At the end of the Betsafe-LKL final series, L. Lekavičius will join the Lithuanian men’s national team, which will prepare for the Olympic qualifying basketball tournament in Kaunas and seek to earn the right to participate in the Tokyo Olympics.
