Police launched an investigation into the murders and arrested the suspect. Attempts are being made to determine the motives for the attack, but the crime is not yet linked to terrorism. However, officials are cooperating with the anti-terror police and do not rule out any version.

Police said they arrested the 25-year-old man, but did not confirm media reports that he was from Libya.

UK Prime Minister Boris Jonhnson condemned the horrific crime, expressed solidarity with the victims and thanked the police and ambulance services. Other politicians in the country have also expressed their condolences to the victims of Forbury Gardens.

Home Secretary Priti Patel said it was “a futile attack on people who enjoyed spending time with friends on Saturday night.”

Earlier Saturday, a “Black Lives Matter” protest took place in the park, but police did not find that the event could be related to the attack.

Protester Nieema Hassan wrote on Facebook that everyone who attended the event was safe and undamaged, and the event ended before the crime occurred.

Witnesses saw two ambulances and several police cars running to the park on Saturday night.

A witness told reporters that there were many people resting on the park’s lawn, and a man who was walking suddenly picked up something and approached a group of 10 people and started starving them. The witness saw three people wounded in the neck and other parts of the body.

The assailant then attacked another group of people and stabbed one in the neck in the back. Shortly after seeing people flee the park, the criminal also left.

Authorities say two people are being treated in the resuscitation room at Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

The media reported that police searched the house where the suspect was believed to be living.
