The EU COVID-19 digital certificate will be issued to people who have been sick, vaccinated or tested for coronavirus in order to simplify border control procedures. However, each country may set its own requirements for incoming persons.

According to Karolis Baltrušaitis, Director of CGI Lithuania, at the press conference, the certificate is generated even after receiving a single vaccine.

“It is very important to emphasize that (certified, aut. P.) It will also appear when there is a vaccine (yes, aut. P.). But then you have to check if you will be accepted with that vaccine in that country. Because the certificate generates the information you have, ”said K. Baltrušaitis at the press conference.

He said the certificate would not need to be renewed every 7 days, as required by the Passport of Opportunity, a national document. However, the certificate will need to be renewed if the information on available immunity is updated: after vaccination, after illness, after a test.

On Monday a certificate was generated for 300,000 inhabitants of the country. According to Saulius Urbanavičius, director general of the Center for Registries, the whole process should take several weeks.

These documents will be generated first for vaccinated people, then for people infected with coronavirus, and only then for people undergoing tests.

However, each country will decide on the specific requirements for incoming tourists. You can find a list of specific requirements here.

Delphi Remember that the entire European Union will join the system on July 1.

According to current requirements in Lithuania, no additional restrictions apply to persons who enter or return vaccinated against coronavirus one week after the second dose of Pfizer, two weeks after the second dose of Moderna, 15 days after the second dose of AstraZeneca and two weeks later the second dose of AstraZeneca – after one dose of Johnson & Johnson.
