You can also reach the seashore by other routes, although the distances are greater, there will be an opportunity to admire the nature of Lithuania through the car window, and not observe the faces of desperately tortured drivers while emitting exhaust gases.

332 km from Vilnius to Palanga by the most direct road through Kaunas and Klaipeda. theoretically you will cover the road in 3 hours. 38 minutes. One such route, 362 kilometers long from the capital, passes through Ukmergė towards Kėdainiai. Then turn towards Cinkiškės, where you enter the main country road A1 and head towards the seaside.
There is another possibility to go around Kaunas without making a big curve and avoiding a big congestion. When going from the capital to Kaunas, after reaching the midpoint, you should head towards Jonava on the road marked with number 143 near Elektrėnai. Continuing the journey on the E67 road, you will reach the Vilnius – Klaipeda highway. Google Maps indicates that choosing this route will take you 354 km, and the trip to the coast will take about 4 hours.
Alternative route from Vilnius to Palanga
A trip to the Coast – for those with more time
To avoid traveling on the main transport artery of the A1 country, you can choose another route. From Vilnius to Palanga, go through Ukmergė, Panevėžys, Šiauliai and Plungė. The length of the route is 373 km and the trip will last about 4 hours. 50 min.
Likewise the same, around 5pm you would have to drive on the west side – from the capital via Trakai in picturesque areas going to Birštonas and Jurbarkas and into Kryžkalnis entering the A1 highway. The length of the route is 383 kilometers.
If you have more time and want to see this interesting thing, you can choose another option, not to turn to the main road of the country by the same route, but to get to Palanga by driving through Šilutė. The trip will last more than 5 hours, you will have to cover 375 kilometers, but after Šilutė you will have the opportunity to visit Cape Ventė, visit the Mingė village, Kintai, called the Venice of Lithuania, and admire the nature of Pomerania.
