However, Justas Pankauskas, executive secretary of the LSDP, assures that recently the party has just seen growth trends. However, he also agreed that the decision of some Seimas Social Democrats not to support the Association Law was contrary to the provisions of the program.

Povilas Šimonėlis, who previously led the Vilnius Momentum group formed by the Vilnius Social Democrats, which aims to create a progressive face for the LSDP, said on his Facebook account that he was leaving the party due to a lack of right-wing politicians and leaders. follow, continue. Meanwhile, Artūras Rudomanskis, president of the Tolerant Youth Association (TJA), which has been active in the LSDP for more than 10 years, claimed that the vote on the Association Law was the “last straw” to leave the party.

“In the context of the presentation of the association bill, I realized that I am less human to the majority of the LSDP members, sincerely supported representatives in the Seimas. Even the Conservatives outperformed LSDP, which classifies itself as a European team of progressives. I am ashamed and disappointed, because those who profess the true values of the left have not been discussing human rights for decades, “wrote A. Rudomanskis on his Facebook account.

Homophobic moods prevailed at the party 10 years ago

According to the president of the Tolerant Youth Association, when he joined the party he was received in a homophobic manner, but A. Rudomanskis emphasizes that, despite this, he always strove to promote social democratic values in the LSDP.

“I am leaving the LSDP party. More than 10 years of active activity, despite homophobic consent on the first day of joining the organization. While in the party, I have always encouraged my party colleagues to discover and understand the values social democrats of freedom, equality and solidarity ”, said the president of the TJA.

According to him, after Gintautas Paluckas became the party chairman, the situation in the party began to improve, but after the latter resigned, in the end there was no breakthrough in the party.

“Personally, I have repeatedly had to endure hatred, disgusting gossip, deliberate blockades against my loved ones or mine in order to implement party activities, and so on. When Gintautas Paluckas assumed the presidency, the culture in the party began to improve, but unfortunately, progress did not take place, ”says A. Rudomanskis.

LSDP Executive Secretary: Failure to comply with the provisions of the program is intolerable

Commenting on the recent resignations of party members, LSDP Executive Secretary J. Pankauskas regretted that some people had chosen to resign at this time. He agreed that the retirees were consistent left-wing Social Democrats, but at the same time expressed hope that all party members would decide to join the party on the idea.

“In fact, there were several members who publicly stated that they were leaving the party. Of course, in the first place, it is very unfortunate for the ideological members. However, I hope and hope that the 15 thousand. Members who came to our party rallied for the idea and the left. The few people who quit smoking are perfectly familiar. It’s a shame that he left and chose that path right now, ”J. Pankauskas told Eltai.

The LSDP representative pointed out that despite the withdrawal of several people, she sees opposite trends: more people joined the party after the victory of MEP Vilija Blinkevičiūtė than she did.

“There is not much of a tendency for people to leave the party much. On the contrary, after the last election of the president, when Vilija Blinkevičiūtė was elected, we saw that thirteen people had joined the party in the last week,” he said. J. Pankauskas.

He assured that some people withdrew from the party precisely after the vote on the Public Limited Companies Law.

“Some people are leaving, perhaps due to certain recent decisions that have been made or rejected in the Seimas, and the number of people coming to the party is increasing,” he said, noting that the failure to comply with the provisions of the program was intolerable.

“I am the secretary in charge anyway. I am responsible for the processes in the party in economic matters rather than political, but clearly I am from the left. At this point, I look very strictly at what we have promised and declared in our program. Rights Human values must be respected, I adhere to them and I really do not understand the friends who sign, approve the program, but then refuse and do not follow certain provisions. This is elementally intolerable, “said J. Pankauskas.

Individual socialist chapters called for opposition to ‘genderism’

Meanwhile, P. Šimonėlis, who previously led the Vilnius Momentum group made up of young party members, claims that after G. Paluckas’ resignation, the LSDP deviated from the provisions of its program, the party’s youth organization was returned false and liberal. and the new president Vilija Blinkevičiūtė solves all the problems in a simple way and asks for more discussion. According to him, older members of the LSDP have repeatedly defamed young members of the group Momentum. According to the young Social Democrat, Juozas Olekas MEP and Vytenis Andriukaitis, the party’s honorary president, have criticized the Momentum group and lost the last presidential elections.

“A party in which decisions are made by intrigue and an ordinary member is stateless, a party in which individual divisions demand opposition to ‘genderism’ and a conservative Vilna division, whose president Povilas Pinelis says is already too focused in the hipsters (…) we were outraged by the Andriukaitis dinosaur. We were slandered by Juozas Olekas with golden spoons, “said P. Šimonėlis.

According to him, a part of the members of the Social Democratic faction in the Seimas would fit much better with the Union of Peasants and Greens of Lithuania or even 5%. barrier in the Seimas elections, which did not surpass the Conservative Party of the National Union.

“The rankings sometimes go up, sometimes they go down, but whatever the difference, even though they win the municipal elections, in general, right-wing politics is pursued when a faction is formed in the Seimas with people who would look very organically. in the ranks of the peasants or maybe even in a ‘National Union’ if they had passed the 5 percent barrier in the elections, ”he said, noting that Lithuania needs a political force that consistently defends leftist views.

“Our country needs new real left forces, of which I would like to be a part, of which it would not be a shame to sacrifice my time, which I would wait,” summarized P. Šimonėlis, who left the LSDP.

ELTA recalls that the gender-neutral Association bill, which arouses many emotions in society, was rejected and returned to the Seimas last Tuesday at the presentation stage by two votes. The initiative had the support of 63 parliamentarians, 58 voted against and 7 abstained.

The partnership project did not have the support of five members of the Social Democratic Group: Vidmantas Kanopa, Kęstutis Vilkauskas, Vilija Targamadzė, Tomas Bičiūnas and Liudas Jonaitis.
