“We listened to Eurovision, we flew very well, the children got up to look through the windows what was happening here, and looking at the park alone they began to think that I am going to see it,” people say.

Flying over Kaunas offers a breathtaking panorama.

“Because I am a resident of Kaunas, Kaunas is the most beautiful city to fly over: the Pažaislis monastery, over the Kaunas lagoon and a beautiful view,” says pilot Laurynas Mikalajūnas.

The festive atmosphere in the city is also conveyed by electronic music played early in the morning from the roof of the tallest building in Unity Square.

The street art gallery is complemented by three huge drawings on the buildings, a gift to the city of “Kaunas – European Capital of Culture”. This is how the symbols of the city’s culture are immortalized.

“The Nemunas cultural magazine, which nurtures the identity of Kaunas, the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra and the Aura dance theater,” says Irutė Tumaitė, organizer of the Kaunas 2022 event.

The rappers are jamming live right here. And the giant fresco dedicated to the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra is symbolically unveiled by the orchestra itself with a musical work.

The Kaunas National Drama Theater, which was unable to mention last year due to the pandemic, is happy to have opened theaters during the city’s birthday and offers fans not only performances but also invites a tour and a tour of the theater.

“From Laisvės Alley through the theater to all the outdoor spaces, touching the different segments that make up the theater: artistic scenography, music, drama and actors”, says the theater director Egidijus Stancikas.

“It’s fun to have a lot of people, but I haven’t seen any events. 18.04 we go and look, there is very little movement here, we lack … are you waiting to listen, see? We wait with every step – a celebration is a celebration to be, ”say other passersby.

Lithuania’s second-largest city celebrates its birthday in 1408, when Vytautas the Great granted Kaunas the right to Magdeburg, the privilege of administering itself as a self-government.
