Before the age of thirty, E. Bagdon began his service in Lithuania on the Supreme Council and played a particularly important role in leading the foreign policy group of President Valdas Adamkus.

After several years of battling the disease, E. Bagdon died at the age of 58. He recently served as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, but had returned to Lithuania for some time.
Previously, E. Bagdon headed the foreign policy group of President Valdas Adamkus and was ambassador to Belarus and Israel.
I admire the authentic sincerity
Political scientist Ramūnas Vilpišauskas, who worked with E. Bagdon on President V. Adamkus’ team, emphasized the “genuine sincerity and passion for work” of the deceased.

“In such cases, we would often sit with a glass of wine in the evening and talk about life anyway. It was always easy with him, he had a great sense of humor, which I think helped him a lot at work too. ”. 15 minutes said the political scientist.
He noted that E. Bagdon, who began working as a diplomat shortly after the restoration of Lithuania’s independence, had accumulated significant experience and many contacts.
“He really had an institutional memory and knowledge of how things were happening in Lithuania and how much he had contributed in three decades both to the development of the diplomatic service and to the implementation of Lithuanian foreign policy in general.
I don’t think there are that many people who have been involved from the beginning and have had the opportunity to work with a lot of the first people in the state. ” 15 minutes R. Vilpišauskas said.

Former Israeli ambassador to Lithuania, Amir Maimon, said he will always remember E. Bagdon’s “warm smile, his love for his country, Israel and especially his family.”
Parliamentary diplomat and veteran Žygimantas Pavilionis called E. Bagdon a “capital letter statesman.”
He claimed that E. Bagdon was “one of the moral creators of President Adamkus’ foreign policy, who directly contributed to the establishment of the Lithuanian-Polish strategic partnership in the golden age and the strategic partnership with Israel.”

According to his birthplace in Kaunas, E. Bagdon began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994.
Until then, in 1991-1994, he worked in the Lithuanian Parliament, initially in the International Relations Office of the Supreme Council, later in charge of inter-parliamentary relations at the Seimas.
Laima Andrikienė, signer of the Act of Independence, member of parliament, said that E. Bagdon will remain in his memory as “a very young and beautiful rapporteur, very responsible for the International Relations Office of our Supreme Council.”
A good young man who smelled of decency
“We met in the Supreme Council in 1991, when Edmin began working as a rapporteur in the Office of International Relations.

He said that he had gone on his way and later, he liked “seeing the ambassador of our country, his esteemed colleagues, ambassadors from other EU countries.”
“The death of Ambassador Edminas Bagdonas is a great loss for all of us Lithuania,” said L. Andrikienė.
